I am looking for a reputable head repair shop to work on the AFR's that were damaged when my engine went. I want a reputable place that I can be comfortable with handling a $4000 set of heads. What type of shop do I look for in German? Is it a zylinderkopf reparatur or just a maschinenbauer? What is the best way to locate such a shop? Can I be safe trusting the repairs? Any input is welcome! PS - I am continuing to look into having them sent to Tony Mamo in the states, but I hit a snag with shipping. First, it is going to be outrageous. Second, it may not be able to be done in one package due to weight/size restrictions. This will almost double the shipping if I have to split them. I will do it if I have to, but it is tough to justify the cost if there is someone semi-local that I can trust. |

Geee, thanks for the vote of confidence. LOL. It is going to be over $200 just to ship the heads! So, I gotta weigh my options. By the time this is done, I may end up putting as much into my car as you have in yours. |

What all has to be done to fix your heads? I can ask at the place that did my motor ... NXZ28's heads had a burnt valve that he had fixed here somewhere, I'll try to drop him a mail and see if he can remember what place it was ... |

I think they will have to be shaved slightly because the chamber edge has been nicked and a valve replaced. |

Brian, you could try Badder Badder. They milled my old heads back in the day. Don't worry, you'll NEVER have as much $ tied into your ride like me. That's not a badge of honor on my end. LOL! |

LOL! Bader is good but expensive, they built WorkmanGC's Cobra and he spins it to around 8 grand, so they know what they are donig but they charge a premium... Thank god for VAT.. |

$200 to ship??? You should be able to just mail them Priority Mail. You may have to package them separately, but I'd almost bet that each head is less then 70 lbs. If so, you can mail them. Check the prices. |

Yeah, I am having a custom box shipped out to me from AFR. So, that is priority, but with both in the same box. It would be more with the additional packaging if I seperated them. |
