I would have posted this the other day but I was to ticked off. I was driving to work on wensday and I got into a race with a 2000 mustang GT. I one the race by alot hands down. My exit came up so I slowed down I stepped on the clutch and the car just stalled out I figured it was something stupid not a big deal until I restarted it. I had lost about 70% power and I picked up a lot of vibration in the engine oil pressure was gone completely. At that point I started to get concerned so I pulled over popped the hood but it was to dark to see anything so I just drove on. When I got off at the Baumholder exit I pulled over and it was a little more lighted but still dark. What I had seen scared the shi$ out of me. My exhaust off the heads was glowing cherry read (not a good sign).. and I still had no oil preasure that's probably why they were glowing. I drove it home the next day still no oil pressure and no power but I made it home. I figure on moday I'm going to by new plugs to hopfully cure the power problem. As far as the oil pressure when the car is cool I have oil pres when it warms up is when it goes away. I think the oil filter may be clogged in someway so i'm going to replace it. I know it works like a fuel filter, your car will run for a while till and can't flow anymore and then you have to wait till it fills again just a theory though. Any suggestion would be great.
I want to get it working for the dragg racing coming up!!!

damn man... you need to get that thing working.... What about a clogged pickup screen in the pump. The sludge stays low when cold, but as the oil heats and thins the sludge is sucked into the pump screen?

Your right I do need it running. It seems like when one thing happens it all happens. I'll try your idea if the filter idea doesn't work. I really hope I can get it running for good again on monday. I just don't want to have to pull off the intake again. This SUCK$

Oil filters are a full full design. If by chance it is clogged , there is a bypass valve in the filter to bypass the filter media. You more than likely have a faulty transmitter or loose coming from it. As for the rough idling Check to see if you got aburned or looseplug wire especially if you have headers( could also be opti). Glowing pipes usually happen if you have a dead cylinder and you are running cats.

as the the glowing pipes I have only one CAT and it's puched out. I just replaced the Opti a year ago and it has less than 10,000 on it. About the oil what else could it be if it isn't the screen and the filter does it sould like it could be the pump. The only reason why I would think it wouldn't be is the fact I have pressure when the car is cool. At the rate I'm going with this car does anyone want a Z28 $1.00 dollar or best offer. j/k.
Jack I guess I opened my mouth to soon in your post. When I said i know how much it sucks to be down. I guess I didn't get enough of the blues the first time. I'm only hoping this is something small.
Thanks for the help.

I'm not fortunate enough to have a gas light. I usually start to get on edge at 1/4 of a tank. I can't speek for all f-bodys but when mine hits 1/2 tank it drops quik. Think of it this way jack it's really a quik fix and under waranty even better.

Sorry to hear Ryan. Buy the time I get the clutch, I might as well just eave the car down until the rebuild is done.

everything goes according to plan. Or better yet It will go according to plan and I will drive the car again this week no matter what It will be fixed. I just can't imagine it being anything that big. I know that I put it together the proper way and it ran fine for 600 miles if something were to break it would have broke by the 500 mile point. I know that spark is my main problem and then it's somthing clogged in the oil system. I fix those two problems and I'm back in action again.

Put a mechanical oil pressure guageon it and check it when its hot. I doubt very seriously it is any thing else. Reason being, if you lose oil psi to zero that is gonna be one noisy clanky engine. Is it? If it is it is already oil starved and on the way out.
Try a little trouble shoot.
1. Do all cylinders have compression?
2. Do all Cylinders Hhave spark?
3. Do all cylinders have fuel?
4. Test the oil pressure with a known good Mechanical guage.

I thought the same thing no oil preassure would mean a noisy engine. However the engine runs quit and the temp is staying normal no change at all. I know I have a spark problem without a doubt. I'm almost posotive it's the plugs because I've been noticing hesitation on start up. I should have changed them when I did all that work since the car sat for so long. I got a little lazy and didn't so now I'm paying the toll. I want to be running for the racing coming up.

loss of oil pressure at high RPM's is death to any engine. Try what Roy reccomended unless you droped a cylinder you should be OK. With your headers let it Idle and touch the pipes one at a time the cool one is where the problem is.IE plug, wire or blown.

I like what you said about the temp but why did you have to say BLOWN. Those are the words I didn't want to hear (lol if I can). On the serious side the engine idles fine it's honestly acting like the time I blew the opti spark or like when a plug is foweled out. It idles fine quit as a sleeping baby it's when I get on it I notice the power loss. If I open the hood and give it throttle I can hear a pinging noise sort of like bad gas or bad spark. I think I may have just foweled the plugs pretty good. Appreciate the info good knowledge.

point being bad/dirty gas plugs them.

Excuse my ignorance. What's an opti spark. Never heard that term.
