Does anyone know the best place for a catback install near Spangdahlem? I was thinking about giving Mark a call to see how much he would charge. Let me know if you know of anyone. Thanks. |

Billy, do you just need tools to install it or will you have to do some cutting/welding? Meet me on your next trip to Ramstein if you just gotta borrow tools/help. Brian |

Brian, I'm thinking there will be some cutting/welding needed. I have some tools but not a welding machine or anything.... I'll see exactly what will be needed once the exhaust arrives and I'll let you know. Thanks. |

At the risk of sounding incredibly dumb, what is a "catback install" ? I guess you are talking about the exhaust from catalytic converter back to tailpipes ? Why would you need any welding done ? If you're buying a replacement system, would it not just attach to the existing mounts ? I admit I'm not overly familiar with exhaust installations but in my limited experience it's been fairly straight forward to replace sections (except the 3rd gen. downpipes from manifold on passenger side ![]() |

I don't remember what he has on the front end of his exhaust so I don't want to narrow out the possibility of required welding. He is too far from me just to go check. Billy, the person I am talking about is a local that is very inexpensive. His primary business is paintless dent repair, but has welding experience. If I remember right, he only charges around 30E per hour. Way cheaper than I have found elsewhere! He is also almost always available, but we would have to do it during the week. (Thats when I am currently available anyhow). It should not cost more than an hours time if we fit it up and roll/drive it down the street. What catback are you planning on? Take decible level into consideration. Especially if you are without cats. |

I've got hooker lt's, tsp cat'd y pipe (well use to be.. had to do some customizing due to the tq arm, but I still have the cats.), and the stock junk after the y. I went with Magnaflow since it was stainless and also not extremely loud and another thing is that it didnt cost me $1000. I have a really small cam in there too... so you can barely here my car. ![]() Brian, that would work out great. I have some due days off, so I'll see when I can take one of them. I'll be pm'ing you with another ? as well... so I'll contact you and we'll work something out. |

I will check to make sure he is capable of welding that. chieftransam wrote: I have some due days off, so I'll see when I can take one of them. I will let you know. |

ok let me know....I"ll check when the new system get's here to see if anything will need to be welded or not. I didn't know there was a difference when it came to welding stainless or anything else...but that just shows that I don't know jack about welding! |

For welding stainless you need to know the type of SS that it is so the correct wire and shielding gas can be used. |

I checked with him and he has a "better" type of wire for SS. He said it will still rust down the road, but it is a better wire than he normally uses. He is willing to give it a go though if that is exceptable to you. Hopefully, it's just ready to bolt right up. |

I hope its a bolt up too. If welding SS and the weld rusts then the incorrect wire was used. |

Ok, thanks for finding out Brian. I'll pray that no welding is needed and everything just bolts right in. I got the stainless kit to help with the weather here and the fact that it wasn't the loudest kit. |
