Does anyone have special techniques/warnings when prepping fiberglass? I know a lot of sanding and from what i read, use paint to find the high spots. anything else would be appreciated.

I just tried my first real fiberglass attempt. The main thing I found is that it is tough to get the hardner mix right because of all of the different variables. To me it seemed like I was using way too much hardner, but it worked out well....just gotta be quick. I also used a lot of tape to make sure it did not get where I did not want it.

The main thing I could not figure out is how to get the mat to lay where I wanted it. As soon as I got it wet it would fall apart. This was especially true when trying to work with an inward/upside down curve. There has to be some sort of trick with that.

Be carefull with wet sanding...... fibreglass is hygroscopic, it sucks water and could ruin your paint job if not dried properly.

When you are through sanding, or getting ready to put another layer on, wipe it down with acetone.
