I had installed their "bad a$$" Dual Friction clutch and pressure plate about a year before this failure.
Well a few months back what I thought was my tranny had went. You could shift the car to any gear without using the clutch and it would go into any gear but there is no gear there, like 1-6 and reverse was neutral. Well I pull the tranny down the see whats the matter and it turns out that I tear the hub from the disc. I mean the whole center. I have never seen anything like it, it ripped the metal clean apart. Thanks to Silas, he gave me his stock clutch to get my car moving again.
I take pics and write Centerforce and they basically tell me that I installed it crooked and misaligned which would cause the metal to bend and weaken, and that I am out of the warranty period but if I wanted them to I could send it in and they would try to repair it for less than a new unit, and mind you this thing is unrepairable. Basically they told me "Tough". That kind of infuriated me. I know how to do a clutch, I can do it with my eyes closed, and I used a aligning tool so it couldnt be off. And the problem didnt happen gradualy, it just went all of a sudden. I think I got a bogus unit, as this stuff just doesnt happen regularly. Wait till you guys see this thing.
I have some pics if anyone would like to see them. But I cant post them here cuz I dont have any web space, but if someone would provide me with some I would be happy to send them the pics.
My reccomendation to you is do not buy any of cenerforce's junk. The Dual Friction clutch I have is just a resurfaced stock disc. It not as solid looking as the Star, and I just learned that thier customer service stinks.
"Chain the beast" they say.... Yea right! My a$$!
Just venting,
Jeff
P.S I think that the pressure plate is still good, does anyone know what type of pressure plate they use? Is it stock LT1 with added weights, LT4, better, or what? I may just buy a disc from Star and have a Centerforce DF pressureplate/Star disc combo. I think that it would be pretty mean, dont you?

It seems like centerforce is coming out of the wood work. I've heard more bad things about this company than good. They shouldn't be around to much longer with the bad rap there getting. I don't really know any f-body owners today that would buy one. I agree with bruce I don't know If I would mix match a centerforce with a star. It's hasn't been done before and you may end up spending more money than it's worth. I hav'nt checked my e-mail lately do you still need that transmission seal. If so I plan on having my car running for sunday (HOPEFULLY). If your there I can bring it to sembach if you need it before that I'll be home all day tommorow trying to get my car back in tune. Good luck and hope you can make it so we'll have to 96Z's to destroy the HAWK!! Just kidding bruce. If I'm running I'm coming looking for you!!!!!!!

Well I can honestly say after looking at Daves centerforce, if you do not change your flywheel to aluminum or something softer, the clutch will be eaten alive on the flywheel side. That was only after 15K
Bruce... Everyone wants a piece of you. I hope your clutch holds up to all the driving....

Yes bring the seal, I just drained and filled it with good old Army Dextron. I hope it will hold up till I get back from Sembach. Its groaning alot on the 1-2 shift, making lots of racket, leaking tranny fluid, and Johns good old stocker clutch is on its last leggs. Its all because of you Bruce, I am determined to be there if I have to swap a TH-350 in!

If I get my car running I'll throw the top part of my tool chest in the back if you need tools there to do the swap out. It shouldn't take to long to remove the drive shaft and replace the seal meybe 20minutes. Give me a shout on my cell anytime tomorow if you need anything. If I bring the chest is there anywhere I can store it?????

Bruce not saying I wish anything bad happens to your car but. It's always when you say something it happens. I know I'm afraid to post to other peoples problems about there cars. I swear my car is a hypocondriact every time I talk about something it happens to my car. I know it's the luck of the draw but damn does this madness stop. At this stage of the game If I had the money to completly gut my car winshield wipers to frame I would replace it all even the little 5amp fuze. That is of course if I had a lot of money key word (MONEY). I hope tommorow is my lucky day I want to race so bad you might see a red stratus out there (without the wife knowing of course she would freak)j/k
