Anybody get any cool toys for Christmas? Linda got me a EO Tech sight for my AR-15 and HP Tuners for the Camaro. I can hardly wait to start playing with both of them. The sight will have to wait until I retire though.

Cool. You will have some fun with that. I wish CTC would offer some welding classes.

Apart from some stuff I got from others, I bought myself this book and a season ticket for Nuerburgring.

Ben, let me know how the book is. I have been buying some car books. I might need to get it.
2slow. Cool, except for the bureacracy. I'm sure glad I don't have to put up with that in the US. If you don't have a criminal record, it is pretty easy to buy a gun where I'll retire. I have a couple more I'd like to get, but it really isn't too important if I don't. I am planning to start reloading when I retire next year. That way I can shoot more.

It has very good pictures of the cars and a relatively brief text including technical information to each car. I think it was worth the money. You can use the "look inside" feature of amazon.com to get a good impression.

Ben, I checked it out and it looks really nice. I may order it. It showed the picture of the 64 GTO that really brought back some memories. My best friend in high school had one almost like it except that his had the post on the door. It was one of the very early ones built, below #300. We were sitting at his house one Saturday morning and read a little note about it in Hot Rod magazine that included the option number. We got up and went to the local Pontiac dealer and Stephen told him he wanted to order one and the salesman said there wasn't such a thing. We showed him the article and he called Pontiac and found out that there was so Stephen ordered it. WOW what a car. No power anything, no air, 3 dueces, rally suspension, and positraction. He kicked butt on everyone on the street when it came in. Unfortunately, another guy totalled it a couple ofyears later. I actually had friends or acquaintances who had at least a third of the cars in that book.
If you like reading about racing, order "Best Damn Garage in Town" by Smokey Yunick. It is mainly about NASCAR, but there is other stuff too. Smokey was a mechanic, but he really advanced engine development a lot in the early NASCAR era. It is really an interesting read.
Jerry

Jerry: Yes, I try to get a feeling how it was during the muscle car years through books etc apart from being interested in those cars anyway... BTW, do you know the movie "Two-Lane Blacktop"? Some find it quite boring, I totally love it!

"Theres nothin building up an old automible from scratch, and then wiping out one of these Detroit machines"
"Goin down to Memphis to run a few of my cars, a couple of Cobras and a Camaro, should do ok"
I could quote them all day.
Greatest car movie of all time.

i had a fully loaded 68 Caprice with a 327 350 trans in it at minot for only $1000 and had it for 3 years no problem, i sold it to a guy for $500 since i had to ship my camaro and the military shipped the Tahoe. I emailed the guy about a month ago to find out whats new with it and he resold it to someone and they ripped out the motor and trans and stuck it in a truck:-((...i even had a new headliner, carpets, intake manifold for it....gone!!!!:-((

Damn, what a waste.
Excellent movie. I also still like American Graffiti. I watch it a couple of times a year. Another one is Heart like a Wheel.
