not sure about the cherry picker, but you may want to go to http://www.tpis.com and see about the "happy hooker" this will allow you to put the correct angle on the motor to pull it out from under the cowl much easier. According to what I've heard. The absolute best, although I dont know if its easy, is to put the car on a lift, unbolt all the thingys, and lift the car off the motor.

If you have some way of getting to Spang and getting it, I would be will to lend you mine. You would need a truck though. As long as I get it back.

I might take you up on that offer. I want to pull the engine as soon as I can. I need to see what damage has been made to the block. This depends on if I order a fully assembled 383 or if I rebuild mine. greatly appreciate it.

I heard the best way to pull the 4th gen engine is drop it down by unhooking shocks lowering the entire engine cradle and transmission down then you can get at it. I have not done this yet but just by looking under the hood. I bet it will be easier to go down.

i read that also in GMHT about 2 months ago. If you do it that way your pretty much disconecting the body from the frame. I think it would be quicker to unbolt the hood and take it out the top. Good info just a lot more work.

I know I'm going to need it for what i'm about ready to do. I just need to build up my morale a little bit so I can bring myself to start. I figure while I'm at it I'll do some serious cleaning to the engine bay. Not like it needs it that bad just something to do.

Here is some motivation do it right so you can come out and kick my a$$ next year. If you are looking for a short block I might be able to find you something? Already built not saying I have one right now. But I have a couple connections in the race world and would be willing to look for you I would need to know how much you could spent though?

I just found this place that sells 383 4bolt main from valve cover to oil pan. They are complete forged engines with the JE pistons and trick flow heads and a cam of your choice. They want 3300 for an engine that produces 460 hp and for additional money you can get one that delivers 600hp Natural. I'm still thinking about what I want to do but right now I just want to get the money buy the engine and drop it in and role. I don't want to play these tear down games anymore. It's the lazy way but hell it comes with a 12,000 mile warranty. The only problem is how do I get it shipped over here????? I'll keep your offer in mind thanks.

It needs to be shipped air freight to nearest air freight terminal Frankfurt with the purhase order. When it arrives go to customs to get it through German Zoll to avoid import tax. For a longblock you would be looking at about 400-500 bones shipping and maybe be able to put a hurting on the Hawk next year? If they do truck freight they can take it to the nearest airport that flys to Frankfurt and in 2 weeks is about all it would take to be up and running. It is pretty hard to have quality engine work done over here so you will be saving yourself alot of hassel. Keep in mind you must be able to feed 500+ horses and keep them in sync so they perform when you need them.
