Blew up 1st rear end (pinion gear in pieces) now replacement making noise. Have housing and a new torsen diff, but need axles, rearend cover/girdle and 3.73's. Can anyone help? Any ideas on how to bulletproof the factory housing or would it be cheaper for a new 12 bolt ($2,300 w/o shipping)? Thanx. Anyone need a hood from a blue '95?

If you need a replacement to get it going, try looking for a S-10 pick-up in the bone yards. some of them had 3.73's.

Thanx for the info. I would rather go with aftermarket due to the fact that I blew out my gears with only 40k miles on them. Hate to put together the rearend only to have it puke on the autobahn again. Fussy, aren't I. Car is currently on the road, but I try to drive gently, if thats possible for me, because the rear makes noise on sharp turns and when backing. Only a matter of time I guess before it goes boom. At least I have my '57 to drive!

You might want to talk at Hawk. He is pretty happy with the Frod 9inch rear. I think its more durable than the 12 bolt.

Just bought axles from Moser Engineering along with a set of 3.73's. Install kit with diff cover/brace from Summit. I already have a new Torsen diff, hope it'll work OK at the drags. I am starting to think that I should have saved my money for a few more months and gotten a 12 bolt. I guess that I have to learn the hard way once again. It should last longer than 40k miles this time if I stay away from slicks.
