If you purchase anything from Jegs, they will ship using Express Mail which is VERY expensive. I was under the impression that my purchase would be shipped via Priority Mail. Imagine my shock when I saw the invoice that stated $65.05 for shipping. Tranny pan, filter, bushings and 2 bottles of oil are all that was ordered. After contacting them, they would NOT help out. They said that this is the only way that they ship to an APO address. I KNOW that this is BS as they have sent me stuff using Priority Mail before. Before you buy anything, make sure that you have the shipping estimate in writing as you cannot go by their word. They also said that it was MUCH quicker this way. BS! Believe it or not, Priority Mail is twice as fast as Express. Why? With Express mail, someone has to sign for it every stop along the way unlike Priority Mail. I'll receive Priority shipped items within a week and it took two weeks for the Express stuff to arrive.
Please learn from my mistake so you don't lose out on $$$ that can be spent elsewhere.

Man I'm sorry to hear that, I know how that feels... I had the same problem with Lingenfelter... I only ordered some small items worth $46 and paid another $72 or something for shipping... I totally freaked out... I called up lingenfelter to ask them why they did use Express mail when I told them just to use regular... got the same answer as you got but after a little talking I was able to get a nice discount on my next order... anyways better than nothing...

Sorry to hear - guess that's the way some companies decide to thank their military people abroad ...

Dude sorry to hear that you had trouble with them. I ordered from them once and it took them for ever to ship the parts. They left a nasty taste in my mouth. I always order through Summit and they have delivered my parts as fast as 4 days. Not to bad, but they are stingy with giving away things like hats and t-shirts.

You guys must be asking for too many free t-shirts or something. I (well, my wife anyways) just ordered me a steering wheel from jegs. It was $ 8.50 for shipping and took like 5 or 6 days to come in and ordered a car seat from summit that was $ 17.00 shipping and took the same amount of time.

Yes, my first gift to my baby was a Simpson car seat with a little 5 point harness.

I've had both good and bad luck with just about both of them. I really believe it's on the guy on the other end of the phone and how he does your order. That shipping price does sound pretty high and I do beleive they messed up, I've asked them to ship that way before and they told me they wouldn't do it so it usually took a week or two. I do have a question for you, how did you get them to ship oil to an APO because I've tried hundreds of times and the answer was always Sorry can't help you. I guess you were one of the lucky few that got oil but paid the price in the shipping. Sorry to hear about your bad luck, I know it always pisses me off. I waited on a set of brake pads from summit for 2 months, everytime I called they said they were in the mail until I called this one time and they told me the part was discontinued and I would not recieve my order. Bastards!!!!!!!!!

Oil isn't that much of a problem. It's not flammable enough to be considered "not mailable". I was able to order a K&N filter "recharger" kit, but only the one with the squeeze bottle, not the spray. As far as that stuff goes, they just have to pack it in another sealed container that will contain any leaks. My tranny fluid came packed in a sealed plastic type bag. It could have all leaked out but the bag would have contained it all.

Thanks for the info I know what else I need to order before I get home. I tried to order High temp paint and the guy on the other end of the phone went on with this long lecture about why they can't. I guess some of there sales reps arn't the brightest.

You can find high temp paint at the local paint shop. It'll be at least twice the stateside price. If the paint is not an aerosol, it might be mailable depending on the quantity. Oh yeah, it will depend on the guy taking your order too.
Just let them know that APO AE is actually in NY and the military takes over from there. Then they will probably send it ground instead of air. Once it gets to NY, it should get by. If they are still hesitant, let them know that the military has different standards for what they can have in their planes and that they also send stuff by boat. Hopefully then they will be willing to mail you the stuff. Just remember, no pressurized containers!
