F-Body Europe

I was on my way to work this morning, and got behind a newer 750i in the fast lane. Normally, I would take the military exit, but this was a good chance for a kill. There was a truck passing another truck, so we stayed behind him until right before A6 goes to 130, by the Riverside. Once the no limit sign was visible, he nailed it, so I dropped it down in to 4th, and punched it. He saw me getting close, so he switched lanes. By the time I put it in to 5th, I was 5 ir 6 car lengths in front!! I didn't look at him as I passed, but I'm sure he was wondering what that red flash was.

I don't think he was going for it, also I guess Beamers are governed at 250km/h, but I think he should have been able to stay ahead ... (knowing how good my 320D pulls ...)

Good kill Jack! but I bet he would have won the arrogance kill!

Garry: I dont think he could have stayed in front. I never saw a BMW (excluding the full M style)that could stay in front if you didnt want them to.

The 750 has to have that large of motor (even though it doesnt displace that much) because its a friggin land whale. He probably is much more comfortable at 155mph than a F car, but not any faster.

You don't need a 750 to be more comfortable than an F at anything beyond 100mph ... my 320D rides very smoothly at 135mph (which is where the computer stopps the accel), whereas driving my Camaro becomes pretty much hard work at 100 and up ... oh well ... but then the sky is the limit on my Camaro, where I've got the car roof on the Beamer ...

Oh, forgot: the 750 probably has a worse milage, too ...

With the exception of the cutout wide-open, it's actually a pretty comfortable ride at 150, but I don't like keeping the rpms that high for very long!! If I ever get bigger tires, and shocks, I'll be very comfortable at higher speeds!! The STB, LCAs and SFCs really make a huge difference.

The bimmer guy can be driving 150+ with one hand on the wheel, the other one straightening the wrinkles in his Armani suit, enjoying the music on his 12+ speaker stereo.

Now, you/us on the other hand, forget the radio, encounter a bump in the middle of a turn, and you should(or you crash) have both hands on the wheel, wishing you could grow a third one so you could pull the underwear out of your ass because the pucker factor sucked it up in there!

There is a huge differance between a 750il and a Fbody at speed, unless I got the only nervous, loud Z28 at 150+
..maybe that truck suspension we have out back has something to do with it? maybe?

You're right, Rob, but I am still happy to be able to pass them all. So far, the only car that I've not been able to pass, that I have gone up against was a F355, but up to 150, I was right there with him!!

For everyone else , It is mainly the shock valving that keepsthese cars very unsetled at higer speeds Second is the type of tire. Most 750's are sporting the Michelin pilots which is a excellent tire . I like mos t people opt for sport valving in my Bilsteins.
