Well I was at the illegals both nights this weekend.

Friday night: At about 2330 I went to the local Wal-Mart parking lot and was suprised to see the turnout. There was alot of Americans there this time. The polezei are thick as the Germans won the soccer game. So me and a few guys jump in a neon and go to scout out a suitable race spot. We find that the messe platz seems like a good place as its about a 1/8 mile of strip there with a walkway running over it makes the perfect place to spectate, and there is construction to the rear of it so that means no traffic. We go back to wal-mart and announce the finds. We convoy over to the messe platz and start the action. There is a hooked up 5 series BMW wagon that is calling me out. So I go to get my car and pull it down in the lanes. We line em up and I just tell the guy to go, exspecting to annilate him. He hooks and is off, I go to launch and I just spin. short shift to 2nd and still spin and at this point I am having flashbacks of Sembach. I shift to 3rd and it finally grabs. So now I have to run this guy down from about a 2 car lead. I lay into it and start reeling him in like crazy. I get him by about a car at the end. Seems the construction at the rear layed down alot of sand and dirt to make it slick.

Now we get the 4-cyl's to go neons, sunfires, opels ect. ect. and they are are running left and right and laying down rubber and cleaning the strip. Buddy comes down in his 89 350 TPI and lines up with a turbo'd VR6. GTA gets him out of the hole but the VR6 pulls it back to get a win by 3/4 of a car. They do a rolling start with the same results. Now guy with GTA finally wants to put some mod money in his car instead of his girlfriend:D. I line my car up against a AWD talon turbo, I let my friend do the driving as he is itching do drive a musclecar and I want to hang out at the start line for the in your face action, and I have a video camera and want to film the action. I flag em off and the talon gets the F1 out of the hole by 1/2 a car, finally my friend finds traction and lays into it, and with that layed the smack down also. Next the turbo'd VR6 decides he wants a piece of the F1. My friend is still handleing the driving chores. I get them lined up and flagg em off. They are even about 30 ft out of the hole due to grannying the car out of the hole. Once he lays into it he runs away from the VR6 with extreme predjudice. The guy with the M3 is there at this time and everyone is trying to get him to race me, and hyping it up. He says sure. Seems he has changed cam/s over the week as this seemed to be the basis of his sudden courage. This seems to be the Main Event, everyones eyes are on the starting line and the camera's are rolling. As he pulls his car up to the line I tell my friend to heat the tires up good and get them sticky. So he starts doing a few Top fuel burnouts to the delightment of the crowd. Just as they are about to line them up someone shouts "Polezei!!" and everyone scatters. A few people drive off the back of the strip off about 1' drop into the construction area itself to get away. We meet back up at Wal-mart and curse our bad luck.

Saturday night: I am hurrying to get the Nitto Drag radials bolted up to meet everyone at the Wal-mart parking lot. I get a call saying to just go to the messe platz. I talk the wife into going so she can see where I am not:D till 0430 every morning on the weekends. Once there, we do a quick recon to make sure there are no camera's and its all clear. The usual 4-cyls start it off. after about a hour we are wondering why the Germans arent racing their cars, after a bit of riddiculing they finally bring a few out. Not too much longer a polezei rides through as if to say " I'm around." I want the crowd to move across town to the industrial area. We ponder our options for a few and the M3 guys shows up and says he will run me there. So we all caravan over there. Now this is prime street racing real estate. You get the full monty here, no 1/8 MI crap at this spot. There is a couple of stoplights here and little to no traffic. Its in a industrial area and its well deserted. We get to the spectator area and discuss the race. We drive out, down to the light and I have the wife riding shotgun to film it. We try to catch a light but have no luck, so my wife is going to do the counting. I do a quick burnout to get the Nitto's sticky. On the count of three we will take off. I bring the R's up to 3K and tell my wife "I'm ready" She askes the M3 driver if he is ready also and he nods. On the count of 3 we are off. I hook "Dead balls" and am as good as gone. I see the M3 instantly fade out of the perephreal, shift light comes on and I hammer second gear, I am not looking back cause I dont know for sure how close he is. The shift light comes on again and I hit 3rd my wife says she cant keep him in the camera view cause I am pulling away from him too quick, but never the less I want to make it bad so I power shift into 4th when the shift light lights the cockpit again. I hold it into 4th knowing that the 1/4 is over just after the shift light comes on. When it does I let it coast to speed and pull back into the parking lot. It seems I creamed him by about 4-5 cars. I go up to him to shake his hand and tell him good race. He tells me he will be ready in two months as he is getting turbo but on it. I tell him I may have nitrous also so I will be ready.

Well I didnt seem to have a problem finding people to race me this time, especially since that wagon made me look bad. lol

I can say I beat the fastest car that I have seen at the gatherings so far, so there definatley wont be any competition for Hawk or ZBLACKHELLRZR around here.

Its a pretty cool place to be, if you can put up with a few young drunken G.I's, smack talking, and lack of action per turnout. I usually dont get home till around 0430. If you all want to come you are welcome to. Although I wouldnt reccomend racing anywhere but at the Weiderstadt area as that is the best place especialy for faster cars :) I just dont want you all to drive all that way and be dissapointed in me :( lol

Let me see what is on the agenda for this weekend and I will let you all know by weds or thursday. My number is 01604082913. If you all want to go, give me a call and I can tell you more about it.

Jeff

Haven't read it myself but Jagsy said that Street Machine magazine have an M3 that only ran the quarter in 14.2. So they're not as fast as their owners like to think. Good kill though and hopefully it gets people to buying the F-bodies instead of constantly being wasted by them.
