Had a fantastic road trip with 30 TVR's.

For those that don't know, TVR's are the best british sports car and at quite reasonable prices (see http://www.tvr-eng.co.uk). However, they are a lot more expensive than a Z28 and quite unreliable.

But TVR suspension is set up really good especially for UK roads. The Z28 was no way disgraced and I hung on to the back end of the cars with no problem.

On the way home I caught up with Roger in his Cerbera (4.0 litres, straight 6, 0-60 4 secs - fast car). I sat on his back end at 80 for a few miles. I don't think Roger knew the road as good as me. But a nice short straight suddenly appeared and my wife said "go on". So I jumped on the power and blew past him at about 100. Wonderful.

I think I upset him. Several miles later on a dual carriage-way he caught up with me and really booted it off a roundabout. I didn't try because I knew the police sat on the road.

And I'd had my fun.

And TVR drivers, like Porsche and BMW drivers, really do need taking down a peg or two and they do so resent it, which makes it so much better. Naturally, you have to pick your TVR although a recent test which pitted the Z06 vs the TVR Tuscan S said the Tuscan was an animal with a tendency to let the back end go a little too frequently, lacking traction control and any other handling aid. I should also say that Jagsy didn't even manually downshift his auto gearbox which would have tightened up his handling quite a bit. Nice kill.

I went up to Gloucester the other day and a TVR Chimaera was hopping cars behind me to catch up. Got right on my bumper. We hit a 100 yard stretch of dual carriageway and I dropped to 2 to get past a lorry and expecting to have to work for it and literally blew him away. He got past the lorry too so that wasn't an excuse.
