On my way to the Nuerburgring last Sunday, I had a small "race" with a Honda NSX. We went from 150 to 210 km/h (93 to 130 mph); we were even, no gaining or losing. I'm a bit disappointed now, thought I'd do better against an NSX...(?)

It is even, but if you are ever able to do full exhaust, you will beat him. Add a cam on top of that, and you will smoke him.. If it was Bruce, it would not be fun!! Sounds like fun, though. That doesn't happen every day for most of us.

How new was the NSX? According to my figures the 0-60 for a '94 6 speed is 5.3 and the 0-100 is 13.9 (about a second slower than a M6 Z28. Interesting figures here though for the two manual cars
Z28 30-70 through gears in 4.5, 50-70 in top 13.9
NSX 30-70 through gears in 4.4, 50-70 in top 8.0
(auto NSX 5.3 and 7.1 respectively)
I think the new one is faster still. Given the NSX Targa in 2000 was 73000 pounds and the Z28 was 22870 pounds, I'd say you kicked his ass in a real and moral sense.
Do the mods Luke, use the Force.

Hm, don't know how new the NSX was but it was NOT the newest 2000+ or so (they don't have the retractable headlights anymore, and he had).
Anyway, you're probably right, I should be satisfied with the result. Would be interesting how I would've done against him above 210-220 km/h but I had to take an exit so it was over...

I suspect that's exactly where his 73000 pound handling and dampers might prove the decisive factor. I wouldn't want to get push too hard on a 130+mph sweeper on the standard Z suspension hence most people change to Bilsteins to stop the wallow.

According to the website, the current NSX priced at 93k€ (!) only pushes 280 HP ... even though, getting that kind of HP out of a V6 isn't too bad ... supposed to get up to 270km/h ... stupid thing weighs 3000 pounds ... and has a total allowed weight of (get this) 3260 pounds ... Barely enough for one person and some luggage

Barely enough for one person and some luggage hahaha...the reason the nsx was running with you on the bahn is what I've been preaching to you people all along; #1, it weighs about 400lbs. less than you, #2, it's power band is tailored towards top-end and the engine breathes very well at high rpms, #3, while you geniuses(not the thread starter) are looking up specs, why don't you look at the final drive gear ratio on the nsx; and lastly, the nsx has better aerodynamics than a camaro (hence less power needed to push the car through the atmosphere enjoy!

R4C. Specialist subject : stating the obvious. Thanks Einstein, what would we do without that insight.
The reason I quote actual figures is that's the real world, not "R4C's Wonderful World of Theory" which you so enjoy.
It takes Honda four times as much money to make a car with comparable performance - bet they wish they'd had you on the development team ...or perhaps you were, who knows. If you want to put in a car that costs only twice what an NSX costs, we have the Lingenfelter Corvette. 0-60 in 1.9, quarter mile in the 9's and who cares about the gears and aerodynamics. Hehe.

Hehe. ha! i state the obvious, while you quote magazine numbers!?!?! 0-60 time has NOTHING to do with a highway race, so why do you keep quoting stupid numbers? 1.9!?!?! 0-60!?!! what? 0-60 kmh? yeah right! that vette does 0-60 in 1.9 seconds....boy!!! either that was a bad typo on your part, or someone needs a reality check! Go read some more car and driver, leave the real world stuff to people who actually do it (me).

Sorry if you can't read. Lingenfelter Corvette. 0-60 in ONE POINT NINE SECONDS. Fastest street car ever tested. Quarter in the 9's. Twin Turbo 7 litre LS1 with 800bhp. Go to Kazaa and download it. The only thing you do is talk rubbish. You keep going on about highway times where you never know if the other driver is operating at full capability or if he just let you win because he's not stupid enough to want to lose his licence. At the drag strip, there are no excuses..

I'm not questioning the hp, just the traction....as a matter of fact, who cares , since you don't have one, be happy with your 13.8 quarter mile killer
