I met up with a few gear heads here and they actually talked me into taking my car to a street race. This was out in the middle of nowhere with only 10 or so cars / trucks that showed up. I was worried about hitting a deer more than about cops. Anyways, a guy trailered a newer shortbed S-10 drag truck. It had a 406 small block, Brodix heads, Victor Jr. Intake, electric water pump, slicks and skinnies. He said we had to be quick about it since he was not running an alternator. I ran on my street tires and no nitrous. I line locked it and did a short two gear burnout to heat the tires. I figured I was going to get killed pretty bad. We lined up and someone dropped the arms. I half throttled it out of the hole and slowly mashed it to the floor. He jumped me by about a car and a half out of the hole. Once I shifted into second the tires stopped spinning and I passed him by the top of second gear. I then shifted into third and put about 4-5 car lengths on the truck before the finish line. We raced again with the same result but he never got out in front of me. I realized the BFG 315's hook pretty well when hot and I leaned on it harder the second time. They argued that I sprayed so I took out the empty bottle and handed it him before the second race.

I'm at Fort Stewart near Savannah. Yes, I remember that race. He killed me pretty bad. That vette has a 402 in it. I found out the hard way. I met him at Race Wars a few weeks later. He was running 12.2 with street tires.
