I've I'm kind of new to the road racing thing, and although i'm sure the biggest limiting factor in my speed is between the seat and steering wheel, i'd still like my brakes to keep up with me and not fade out. I'm already planning on adding some cooling ducts, I've got good pads, so the only part i haven't figured out is the fluid. I know of a bunch of places in the states to order good brake fluid, but the best i can find in the stores here has been ATE SL, great on the street, but it just doesn't cut it at the track. Does anyone know where in Germany I can get something like ATE Superblue, or Motul 600, or if my pockets get deep enough Castrol SRF, preferabely close to Kaiserslautern, or someone that would ship to me

Thanks

Try Ate 200 it is the same as super blue except that it is gold in color.
As for Ate SL it is still pretty good for a DOT 4 Fluid.

Are we supposed to use DOT 4 fluid? I thought we used DOT 3.

I think we may use DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 but not 5.
I'm using DOT 4.

Lancer033:
I think you can get these brake fluids in any ATU auto store...?

So I'm guessing DOT 4 is better for high speeds maybe?

Yes, the higher the DOT number, the higher the boiling point of the brake fluid.

If you are in K-town, there isn't any anywhere in town now. I finally found some Super Blue and cleaned out the store (3 liters of Super Blue and 1 liter of type 200).

The good news is my fluid held up a lot better on Sunday. The bad news is that my pads (Hawk HPS) still aren't cutting it. Oh well, they probably 2/3 done and i've only had them for a little more than 2 months.

My plan was to spend this summer learning the track and how to drive, then get serious with it next summer, so i'm on track with that plan, although i think i've hit the limit of my tires. I'll do some mods this winter and be ready for next year

Ben, were you there on Sunday? I parked next to a black Z28 at ~4pm and thought it might have been you.

Yes, I was at the "grass parking lot".
I saw your car entering the track but unfortunately didn't see you/the driver... maybe next time. :)

I think i'm going to try to get one or 2 more days in up there this fall then call it a season. My tires are getting close to worn out and i don't want to buy new ones until I get new wheels and i think i'm going about as fast as my tires will let me go. The one good thing you f-body guys never have to deal with is crappy runflat tires (never again). This winter i'm going to put in a new suspension and see if i can get down to the 8 min range next summer. another 3-4k in wheels tires and suspension should do it

Of course i'm saying that now and i'll probably end up going up until Nov saying it's my last time 8)
