By making it safer, you improve handling and borderline performance ... e.g., try to drive a 4th gen convertible F-Body in stock configuration. Autobahn, or AutoX. After that, add some simple things like sway bars, SFC, STB or similar ... it'll feel like a completely different car ...

I guess that is another way to look at , but then others would say unfair advantage.

The adage "if it doesn't say you can, you can't" approach works well. But if you do, you have to pay for it through a higher index class.

Brakes bump you to SM2, don't see anything that would put you in XP

What about the blower? Once I add the Callaway-Magnason, I guestimated about 600HP, but my story is I will have 500HP and some change. I will need to lower the gear ratios in the back if I want to have any useable lower gears for the track, so that will mean a change from stock gears to the 3.23's.

I thought I would ask to see what kind of response I am supposed to get, and you are right. If they inspect me and look under the hood, it is a carbon fiber cover with a wannabe blower on it. it ain;t real, so keep me out of the race class, haha.

I guess if I ever go to the slalom, I will just have to sit it out, no way I am going against anything else in the hard core race class, no way, not me,.

Nah you don't need to sit out , you just do your laps and let your times speak for them selves with your assessed index.

Definitely don't let the PAX index or anything like that keep you from racing and HAVING FUN! The PAX index just lets the more entry level guys feel a little less intimidated by the more modified cars out there.

you could run a N/A 427ci LS1 and stay in SM2 with as much power as a blown 346, either way, you're probably flirting with (or way past) the upper limit of power for AutoX. Got to find a way to make it stick to the ground.

Staying within the SCCA D Stock rules, I've begun some improvements...

James, I know you've lamented that the ACR guys didn't ever run their cars as they were intended to be run, so...
Will a non ACR SRT-4 set up with adjustable struts and Hotchkis front sway bar fill the bill okay?

Looking forward to Memorial Day!

Oh and I heard the Green Beetle is coming back for me. Seems he was a little miffed at a stock Focus beating his 35,000 euro Beetle. Seems he has since converted to Fuel Injection in off season.

When it came right down to it, Angie decided that spending $28K on a really cool car that she would just "like" to have as compared to a car we owed about $12K on that I love was just not a smart choice for us. I was fully committed to getting the Mini S convertible for her and even had the SRT-4 all but sold... What can I say, she loves me! :D

Once we buy a newer family car to replace the Suburban I will find her another Mini convertible.

So, I LOVE the Hotchkis sway bar! Autobahn offramps are way more fun than they used to be. :D
***Note so self: The little packets of lube that come with the swaybar are NOT enough to keep it from squeeking.

Dag nabbit. I thought I should have ordered some extra when I ordered the bar. I know I saw some offered somewhere recently. I've got to find some! The squeeking is getting worse and it's starting to become embarrassing...

Konis and crash bolts are next...

I'm having trouble finding sticky tires at a decent price in my tall, skinny size (205/50/17) :(

My goal for this year is to have my raw times speak for themselves (in addition to the very generous D Stock PAX Index of course  )

The size is the kicker. I may likely wind up going with the "not recommended" size of 225/45/17 which is much more common and available. I thought I had a set coming, but the guy hasn't returned my emails in about 3 weeks...

Where do you get your tires? What about Roy and others? Do you mail order from the states, or is there a good source here that isn't astronomically expensive?
