i did some leakdown testing to see where i am loosing airflow/boost

made an adapter to put airpressure on the supercharger system

i hope it might make up for 0.1/0.2 bar ?

boostleaks are fixed, but boost itself still is not where i want it to be.
but nevertheless i think its good fun as is for autoX
esp how it pulls above 7500rpm :ok:

7500 RPM! I don't think I've ever been there.

we did some powertesting with it, and it is about where i thought it would be -untuned with timing set VERY conservative even for normal petrol fuel-
engine temperature and intercooler temp dependant between 255-270hp at "only" 6600rpm, so 300hp should be possible with this boost level.

but in case it doen't quite make 300, this is something i plan on using with a bigger blower to get a better powerband :
Image

Image

i plan to limit the inlet of the supercharger and spinning it to it's maximum, so the inlet diameter should directly relate to the airflow and thus boost pressure.
And with this i should (in theory) get a bigger powerband :ok:

but it's a bit of an oximoron i guess, using a restrictor to INCREASE engine performance

That's an interesting concept. Have you seen it applied before? Just a couple more months until Bitburg.

after some ignition tuning it still didn't quite make it to 300 :bash:
and my rev counter was quite a bit off too...

this is on propane / autogas..
Image

before i increase the boost from the now 0.6-0.7bar to something like 1.0bar -1.3bar i might do bitburg a few times before it might blow due to the higher boost (better 1 bird in the hand)

thought i'd bring this post back from the dead

it can occasionally be handy that í dont throw away stuff that easy
(contrary to what my girlfriend says)
i prefer this way of working to lying under the car and getting all stuff in your eyes etc. etc. (-hey, i'm getting older too-)
Image

Due to the increased power, the freshly rebuild axle is starting to make some noice
this is a volvo rear axle that has dana 30 internals, so getting a locker for it should not cost the bank (although the clutch type lsd - power-lock, is not longer being made :(
And trackwidth is quite small.
The axle has been cleaned of all the volvo stuff and mounts and
As you can see, i welded the opel spring / shocks / reaction arm mounts on it
Now it just needs a torquearm..
Image

ths is how it looks bolted on.
i still need to make a torque arm for it and plan to use an aftermarket f-body urethane torquearm bushing
Image

o, yes, and i made and installed a new smaller supercharger pulley that should give 2/10 bar extra and about 35hp
it still needs dyno optimalisation for this new pulley though

I wonder if someone has done that before. That has to be brutal.

Yep Sure did and it was brutal. You could lock it either by engine torque or brake torque. Unlock by stepping on the clutch for tight corners and such.

how unpractical was it for the street ? lots of wheelhop / noise in tight corners ?
and did you ever use a quaife type (see picture) lsd and how good was it for the autoX ?

i hear mixed opinions for this type of diff :?

I have an American version of the Quaife ATB. And it works great but both wheels have to be in contact with the ground or the wheel in the air will just spin. It is the Eaton Tru trac . Also for me it was one third the price of the ATB.
