I'm really really interested driving my Z28 to Germany and do a "tourist" run at the Nordschleif track however I was told by the people who lived in Germany and ran at the ring that my heads/cam/full exhaust car is too LOUD. What can I do to lower my dB levels w/o changing or demodding my car?

Is there any circuit track in Germany that I can run my car w/o any problems? The tracks here in England have all dB limitation.

Bene,
You will never know if its too loud til you try to drive on it. The decibel limit is 95Db at Nordschleife.

Fair enough. I'll be there then with mounted vid cam, extra quart of oil, helmet, and a bag of fun.

I forgot to mention that I have been booted from there twice and blacked flagged once on Hockeneheimring because of my car being too loud.

Forget the video cam please -- except when it's either a smartphone or not visible. If you go let me know. I have "some" laps on this track.

It'll be mounted at the back and it's relatively small and it will be secured. I will let you know definitely. What is the best time to be there? I'll be on leave for 29 days but will only be using a few days to do my solo outing in Germany. I'm thinking during the weekdays would be better for me to show up because it's not as busy?

During the weekdays CAN be less busy but you also have an uncertainty how long it's open (I known several times when schedule said it's open from 1700 to 1900 and then it was just 15 minutes or not at all). During the weekends there may be more people but you have the whole day to do your laps and not a limited time frame.

Ummm... They sound test your exhaust at the "Ring"? What if I'm already registered here in Germany? Is it a case by case thing or what? My car wasn't Db tested but I'm quite sure it's over 95 Db at 3k rpm's.

Also. Ben, we need to work out a time to go to the "ring" in July. :)

Scott you should be okay. They donot do the test unless they believe your car is too loud. My old SLP exhaust knocked out 101 db at a idle .

Scott, always ready to go (weekends), just say when you've got time. :)

For the exhaust: You can be lucky or not. You're on the safe side if you have a quieter exhaust. They randomly pick cars at the gate to test...
To give an example: Running a stock engine with an open or semi-open Borla exhaust is no problem.

I'm going to have to roll my dice when I get there then. I'm running LT/no cats/true duals with heads/cam should be interesting to see if my car can squeeze by without being noticed.
