Well, my Camaro is not even in the country yet, and a stupid A1C wants to race. He even put $100 and badges on it. The only thing weird is that he has a STOCK 1991 Honda Accord!! He was at Bitburg last month with Krylon Black paint on the hub caps.

He ran 17's up there.

Anyway, I just thought that was funny.

 That should be the easiest $100 you'll make. At least wait till he's at half track before you leave the line so he doesn't feel so bad... Be carefull, make sure he doesn't have any power adders like some Spiderman decals...

I think it was 435. All I know is, he's one of those guys who'll show up with only a quart of oil, no seats and no hood just to save weight.

The math:
His car 24.3lbs per 1 HP

My car 10.2 lbs per 1 HP

It just doesn't add up.

He does have those spray painted hub caps. That's worth an easy tenth!!

if he's doing 17s, he'd be an easy victim for my V6, and I'd be close even with my Jeep

blah, blah, blah.............. "I have X hp to X weight" "I have x hp to x ltr"

Whatever.................. Run what ya brung, and shut the hell up.

There are neons out running mustang GT's stock these days, and there are LS1's out running Vipers. Guess what? WHO FREAKING CARES!!!!!!

This guy has displacement envy, and since he has a honda he is an easy mark. There are 9 sec Honduhs, and 16 sec LS1 C5's. Ya never know.

Stomp his azz, offer no explanation except "Dude, your a tool" and roll on. I cant understand this identifing with cars. Either you can win, smoked some hash and dreamed you can win, or whatever. It doesnt matter what it is, or who made it.

It's just another topic for conversation. Where's the harm in that?

Seriously though, as far as I was concerned this thread was dead. I may have come off wrong so I feel the need to clarify.

If you are hung up on its a honda so its slow, or its a porsche so its fast, your gonna be getting beat at the best, losing alot of money at the worst.

There are more 9sec rust bucket 5.0's running around where I'm at than you can shake a stick at, and would love to make you look stupid.

Dont discount anything, make no excuses. If your gonna step up, then do it, if/when you get your chops busted, live and learn.

Peace

I agree with Rob on that.
I was asked by a german kid which cars usually are the fastest out there
just a day ago

Told him there is slow and fast ones of any make and model.
For example the Corsa with two engines and still having street plates,
Beetles which beat everything,
American Muscle in the range from 9 to 18 seconds (there is faster ones asking to come, like Super Comp etc. but I do not allow them to race)
That Golf which is in the low 12's something..., Mercedes V8 power,
and and and.

Just to give you an idea. You got a great car, but still be careful 8)

Thinking about it, I believe we have a really exotic mix of all makes - normally you see either American, Japanese, or European at a show,
but this sommer I have seen almost some of all.

Good point. You just never know what or who is next to you at the light...
Don't judge a book (or car in this case) by it's cover.
I was embarrased when a Golf flew by me halfway down the track at Pirm. Everyone came up to me asking what happened. Turns out I had a normal run. Went to the other car to see what was going on. Just so happens that he spent as much $$$ on his engine as I spent on my whole car. At least that made me feel a little bit better. Perhaps the best car that I raced against, (and lost to  ) was a 280Z that the guy spent less than $2k on (including the cost of the car  ). Junkyard turbo, BMW intercooler and he adjusted the boost with a air valve (lever type) among other items. The car looked like it just got dragged out of the junkyard but it was able to smoke just about everyone. That car and owner got a lot of respect out of everyone. He is more of a "racer" than the guy that bought an engine (VW) or the whole car (me). Making something run that good and still be reliable to drive everyday on less than $2K is something that I wish I could do. BTW, the car was mostly green for those of you who may remember it from around '96-'97.
Looks can be deceiving...

Yeah, I know what a"sleeper" is. The Honda I'm talking about is BONE stock. I've helped him work on it. Its still got the factory clutch. I was just saying that some people over estimate their cars. I know what my car can do, but I don't know what I can do. They say that a stock Z28 can run 13s, but with me driving, I doubt I'll get that for at least a little while.

... and I will try over winter to get one of my 3rd gen Camaros
to run 11's without Nitrous, just motor.
It might be a 11.99 in the beginning, but the 11 in front the
komma is my goal.
Not the BB though, will take a 350.
And the car looks like a rustbucket until it gets done.
Might get short in time to line up against you, hopefully
I am done with the major work until end of Feb or March.

On the other hand, maybe it don't work out. But I will try.
If I make plans to build a doghouse, I'll never get a castle.
If the castle don't work, I still might have a doghouse... :D
