I just got back from the local 1/8, had a blast, but the track was junk. All day with 105deg sun bakeing it, turned it into a grease pit. Anyway, my best time for the night was a 8.9 @78.?? this was on a piss poor 2.16 '60. I discovered a few things along the way, so it wasnt a total loss. 1. 4.10's and 3500rpm launchs dont work 2. Nittos arent much better than my SZ50ep's (btw nittos had 20psi, with a gnarly burnout ) 3. I experimented with power braking a M6 (I never had did this before, cuz I like my rear brakes)
My favorite run of the night, was when I was trying to race this guy I met with a 99 1LE LS1, but they called me and a 90ish 5.0LX up instead. I now know what it feels and looks like to have your ass handed to you big time. Lets just say he ran a 6.57 at 110ish to my 9.3 @78...dohhh!
Before you guys start chuckling to hard at my times, let me just say that the guy with the auto 99 1LE LS1 would have only beat me on one run, and on that one he was juicing a 50shot, got him a 8.6 @ 83ish (NA he ran 9.15-9.30). I got all of this on dig video, but the quality is really poor so probably not worth the time to post.
All and all, I had a blast, plus I now own T335 as my NHRA number, and never have to tech this track again. (time to get illegal on them )

Damn Rob that was a ASS Stompin, But I guess you knew that was coming your way when you heard that mustang running at the Start line.
Was this strictly heads up or bracket racing?

All I ran was heads up for time. They do that first, then go to brackets. In between bracket runs you can also do heads up. I like it, cuz it just allows you to test 'n tune.
John: I found out that around 2500rpm and walk the clutch out fast and as soon as the car noses over slam the throttle worked the best on this night. There just wasnt much traction to gain. Even some guys eagle talon non turbo was blowing his wheels off right after launch, and he wasnt packing serious power either, he ran 11.7's

I see all the hopeful stand-ins for the Fast & the Furious II trying to race everything on the street, and alot of other cars that look fast (Fbody/Mustangs) that never go to the track. Probably dont want to face the timeslip that doesnt agree with how fast they think they are.

That must have been a slick track! Probably some import broke and spilled oil all over it before you got there. I can do 3200/3700 (depending on pavement)on the street with my nittos @18 psi. (probably why I ripped my clutch in two) It takes practice, once you get the hang of those 4.10's/nittos, all others beware. Do you have lowering springs?

I was launching 2200-2500, stock springs and shocks, Nittos on 16's at 20psi. It would act like it was going to hook, but then break loose.
So I ended up letting it pick the front end up, then when it was falling over I would start feeding the gas.
I'm sure this wasnt ideal, because of weight transfer and such, but the track just wouldnt stick.
It should have been giving me 1.8 - 1.9 60' times, but it wasnt to be.

We don't have to think about it. We've seen it first hand, too many times to count.
Rob, those times remind me of my car last October. They could have been better, but that track was dusty.

The few Japanese imports that I give props to are less than I can count on one hand. I have seen more imports break on the track than domestics, I have seen my share of both though.
