Interior light totally confused

Now my interior light is completely confused:
Sunday night I wanted to go home from a friend. The interior lamps did not go off, when I started the engine. So I did the whole trip with interior lamps working!
At home I disconnected the battery, hoping for some kind of RESET.
But nothing changed. I pulled the fuse (no. 8), but than the door lock will not work anymore.
After that the interior lights switched ON, 25sec AFTER starting the engine! So, now its exactly opposite to what it is supposed to do.

I tried those options, setting ignition on ACC and set the dimmer switch, but this had no effect at all!
When the car is idle, after 10min the lights go off, but when the engine is running the lights will continue to work. If there will be no clever solution, I have to take out the bulbs!

Any help appreciated!

Gunnar

Well, I learned something new today ... the dimmer has a "permanent" setting ... some idiot at the Opel dealer must have set it to on during the inspection last year, and I tried everything to find the broken switch or whatever was causing it ... well, that's fixed now, so I finally have power door locks again ;)

On mine, it was just that the dimmer was turned all the way up, it goes a bit further for permanent lighting ... just turned it down and it switched off (well, back to the regular automatic setting) - I never got the idea to try it, as I figured it's the instrument lighting dial, why would that have anything to do with the courtesy light?

Garry, you are an angel!!!
I must admit I have never appreciated this forum more than today!
It works!!!!
The interior light goes off immediately after locking the door and also shuts down when you start ignition.

I am wondering why the users manual does not mention it?
Maybe its an easy one hour cash earning for GM mechanics.....

Is it not funny, that you have missed the central locking for one year only because this stupid dimmer switch was turned up a little bit too high?

If I could, I would like to get rid of all this electronic crap.
In my daily driver I also had some trouble with the standard car alarm, which is linked to the central locking, the immobilizer and so on.....

Central locking I missed, but also having no lights in Bitburg at night when turning in to sleep ...
Glad to hear you had the same problem and it's solved ... Btw, I got the info off the f-body.com forum ... ain't internet nice? :)

Just out of curiosity - who of the folks here on the board have known that the dash lighting dimmer had the extra function of permanent interior lighting???

Damn, and I was about to say that the dimmer dial might have been all the way up! :x

I did, but I did not realize that it could have anything to do with your problem(s).
