Nevertheless thanks for the reply
Well, i now replaced both wires running from the PCM connector to the sensor, no change, the SES light comes on right when you turn the key to the first position, even if i disconnect the battery for a long time (which should erase the errors, right?).
And the sensor resistance definitely changes with temperature, that thing works. I have two other GM ECT sensors in my garage,
i'm going to replace it just to rule it out, but...well.
Anybody near Nürnberg or Bamberg with a code scanner?
As i still have to drive my car a bit, how harmfull is the dummy mode for the engine? I can smell that it runs quite rich, which can't be good for the oiling, but otherwise...?
If i have to replace the PCM (just in theory) does it have to be flashed for my car (immobilizer etc etc?) or will any 1998 to 2002 3.8 A4 PCM work right away like plug&play?
Thanks...
