Heading for the filling station I noticed my indicator acting up - when signalling a right turn, the light in the gauge cluster just stayed on permanently. Did some tests - when signalling right, the rear stays on permanently, front does nothing. Hazard flasher still works for the rear (both sides blinking), front only flashes left light. Indicator to the left still works fine both rear and front ...
Anybody have an idea what might be wrong?

Sounds like you have the same problem I just had to fix. The turn signal sockets on our cars are mounted from the bottom inside the housings, which allows water to collect in the light socket itself. After awhile (80,000 miles in my case), the socket basically melted. If you take the socket out of the housing, I guarantee it will be melted. My left signal was destroyed. You can order them from autozone for around $8, free shipping to an APO. The part number is 85881. Hope this helps!

... Hm, guess I need to check how to get to the light then ... can one get to it without a lift? ;)

Manual is very descriptive ... whereas they have pictures for the headlights (which are pretty much straightforward), only a couple lines on the turn signals ... and that only in the 98 manual - nothing in 2000 and up about them! Great ...

Well, crawled underneath the car and managed to get the socket out ... looks fine to me ... nothing melted or anything, but the light bulb is burnt through ... (at least one of the two threads inside) - now the question is if this causes the blinking to get stuck ...
I checked the wiring diagrams in my Haynes manual, and according to that, the same blinker relay generates the pulses for either side (hazard flasher is separate though).

And the second question is: Where the f*** am I going to get a light bulb like the one I need in Germany? Doesn't look like anything I've seen here before ... :(

Reckon if I can't get a replacement, and weather is OK, I might try to put the working bulb from the left side in the right and see if the not-blinking indicator swaps side then ...

I get my bulbs at the local Opel/Gm dealer. But that may be a thing of the past.
