Post subject:  1st July Weekend Cruise

Well, now, what are we up to?
One suggestion - IIRC - mainly went toward meeting on the 5th in the Nürnberg area for the Friday evening BS-Talking meeting, then where to? Taking a cruise through Bavaria or into Austria or something would be an option ...
Another said towards France ... personally, I'm not too much for that one, as I like to go to places that I can understand what people are saying ... :) Also, ordering food is easier that way ... ;)

What about that lake up in the hills by the 3 castles in Austria that Squiellina talked about. I think I was there going from Garmish to Schweinstein. Its a nice place. I think you can camp up there. There is a Gasthaus up there too. It would be nice a case of good Bavarian beer, camp out and talk BS about cars and drag racing.
We might want to meet up somewhere besides the BP or Norrisring. Maybe that Diner on 6, 2 exits from the Nurnburg exit.

I was thinking about a drive buy to check it out before I park. It was getting a little out of hand they were getting pretty brave in front of them.

If cruisin' through Austria involves using the autobahn there, just keep in mind that everyone will have to stop and get an Austrian autobahn pass. On the spot fines are huge if you don't have one, and the pass itself is pretty cheap. Thought you'd all want to know if you're concerned with time and money.

The pass is €7,60 ... they have 'em at the autobahn filling stations the last 10-20km and at the border, too ... and you can even remove them from the windshield without leaving a mess ... :)

OK, for now this is the suggestion:
July 4th we leave open for things like the Hockenheim Ring or work (for all german people here that do not have a holiday ...).
For July 5th (Friday) we meet either on the way to or at the Chiemsee in Bavaria - we will need to check with the camping ground there as to available space (therefore, please tentatively let everybody know you're planning on coming - probably will check for ~10 cars and tents ...). Set up tents for Fri and Sat night. No defined targets for the cruise yet, but could drive down to Salzburg for Saturday. Do a nice BBQ on Sat evening when we get back to the camping ground. Sunday morning pack up (usually have to be gone by 11am) and finish with a little round trip, again no destination/course set yet.

Called the AFRC Camp Ground in Cheimsee, it will cost $12 a day per tent. It cost the same $12 per day in Garmish but it has a bigger campground. You need reservations at Cheimsee but not in Garmish. I don't know the cost at a German campground. Lake Constance is cool too. Can hit Austria and Switzerland. Its not to far for the K towners too.

Seems pretty high - would have to add it up for the places we found, but recon it to be less than €10 per day ... and they allow dogs ... which is pretty important ... :)
