Hello all F-bodyers!!!
I am probably the newest member to F-Body Europe. I am in the Azores now but will be coming to Germany in January. I am glad to find that there are other F Body enthusiasts in Europe. My 2 biggest concerns are 1st, can I get parts there for a 1st Generation Camaro, and 2nd, is it easy to find a house with a garage, or to rent a garage for restoring my Chevy? Also, is the club still running strong? It seems like it is booming more in the summer(I wonder why?? LOL). Hope to make a run with you all soon!!

Are you military? If so, getting parts should not be a problem through the mail. Finding a garage big enough to work out of will be a challenge. Depends where in Germany you will be coming to. You might be able to find a farm (with a barn) or move next to one so you can have some room to work.

I was TDY to Lajes last Oct. From what I saw I can definitely understand your pain...there ain't a damn thing there! I'm shipping Scirocco parts to a guy I know there because the lack of "stuff" on the island(s).
Where in Germany are you headed?

Thanks for the quick response!! You guys ROCK!! I am in the military (POL troop) stationed @ Lajes Field. I will be leaving here in December to go to Spangdahlem AB. Everyone says it's nothing but farmland, but Ramstein is an hours drive away. Is this true?? I chose Spang to be around fighters again!! =) I heard Trier and Bitburg are close and pretty cool. You guys ever go up to that area?? Has any of you done any restoration while in Germany? I've heard nothing but GOOD things about Germany, and am looking foward to getting off this damn ROCK. I agree with you ChevyZ28. I just keep tellin' myself, "9 more months".
Later peeps!!

You will love Germany, they opened up a new autobahn from Trier to Spangdahlem and Bitburg and it is alot quicker. I am at Ramstien and it takes me between 45 mins and 1 hour to get to Spangdahlem depending on traffic. I am sure you will enjoy Germany.

Welcome to FBE. Yes we will have a lot more going in summer.
Right now everybody is just hiding inside from the cold, a lot of
people have their car deregistered over wintertime and just
drive something cheap in the snow... and on the salted roads.

What's up Kent? The name is Dave. I'm at Spang right now. There is only one other first gen camaro here that I have ever seen. His is black with blue stripes, same concept as yours. Finding a garage is not extremely difficult, you just have to look. One big enough to work on the car inside, look harder. Anything can be had here. Even my short block crossing the atlantic as I write this.

Kent,
I just left Spang after being there for over three years... I never had a problem getting parts mailed over from the states for my ride... as far as a garage I use to rent a 4 car garage all for me in a small town about 15 minutes outside Spang..... I can give you the name of the guy that took over it when I left he's a Vehicle Maint. guy.... I'm not suoer sure if he still has it since I left there about 7 months ago.... but I'm sure he does... it came with heat and free elec all for about $150 a month when I left... but like I said things might have changed.... Let me know if you want all of the info. Later and have fun!
