I have heard there will be a OSL event in Hockenheim 1&2 May. Has anybody else heard about it yet? |

I don't know, but I think things are fine the way they are. Silke and Garry really have things running right, and I don't feel anything at all should be changed. |

Looks like someone posted on Mighty Mustangs about that event. It's the same weekend? That is bogus. |

Well, if they have the same setup they had last year, you do not want to run there, Bruce ... the two lanes they had were about as wide as one in Bitburg - with concrete on both sides! Glen almost hit the side once ... also, no decent space to slow down ... |

They're gonna try to get the big track, but even so, I'd rather just go to Bitburg, and not have to worry about wondering whether it's the big or small track. |

also, I don't know who set the date, but Silke waited pretty long to set the 1on1 dates, avoiding everything that was known at that time ... I think it's not very thoughtful regarding the Dragracing motorsports to set up dates that are already known to have events going ... but then, if they didn't come in time, they may have been forced to take whatever was left ... |

I just think our club should boycott that whole organization. That's just me, though! |

In Germany, motor sports is hard enough to get going - there's restrictions everywhere you go, nice tracks are being torn up to build yet another commercial area ... laws make it near impossible to set up permament tracks ... even Rico has gotten in trouble for not obeying the regulations by the letter in Hockenheim. And yet, young drivers get killed every day out on the roads for stupid, reckless driving. Any and every chance there is to get people off the road and on the track in a safe environment should be taken. Just yesterday, I visited over in Eisenach for their "German Racewars" - some 4000 people (!) in total, mostly from Thuringia area, came up to the airport there ... from a safety point of view, they have a lot work set up for them for their next events. But still, it hopefully got MANY young folks to see that they can actually have fun in a (kind of) safe environment and NOT risk their drivers licence! That's what OSL, 1on1, or German Racewars is about! I recon Tony is p@ssed at me for putting in time and work with 1on1 (though I offered help in 2003 - but they couldn't get any tracks), and while I think the timing is bad, I'm not in a position to judge them - I know how tricky it is to get dates fixed to when you want them, so this is probably just a coincidence. Anybody will have to decide for themselves - 1on1 will be in Bitburg on April 30th for the setup, and we will be doing two days packed with quartermile runs, more or less nonstop apart from a lunch break on both days. Let's see if we can wear out the drivers again like we did last summer, having a peak of 150 runs in 2 hours ... I know some folks won't approve of things like the helmets required for all cars (we'll have a couple rentals though), so they might as well avoid 1on1 events. For all the other folks who want to come and be sure they and their children (and dogs ![]() |

Some of the things that happened in the Mannheim area have really turned me away from dealing with certain individuals, so I won't be participating in any OSL events. |

Bruce, bad traction in Eisenach ... even the Golfs and Opels couldn't get their sorry excuse of torque to the ground ... |

as mentioned above - no timing system ... they will have the Hanau MSTO up there twice this year with their timing system, but all other events will be only with a "dummy" tree (starter stages the cars, then turns on the stage light manually - no red-light possible) ... |
