Rain showers until maybe 9 a.m. and then partly cloudy the rest of the day. Sunday could see more occasional rain showers.

Had an awesome day at the track, and did I mention that this was my first time?

Ran a 350Z that was stock and cleaned his clock. Beat a Mach 1 out of the hole and kept a car on him through the entire 1/4th (CAI, Ported TB, Gears, Catback, Chip, Nitto's), this was also my closest race of the day.

I also had a chance to run Sygoat, lets just say I have LT Headers and RWTD's custom tune. ;)

After today I am really planning on doing this whenever the track at Bitburg is open. Next mod is definantly going to be some Nitto DR's so I can hook up. I was having to go 3/4th throttle out of the hole to prevent major spin through 1st and half of second.

I must say that RWTD's custom tune was the difference for my car. I was pulling like a raped goat and the shifts were perfect. The shifts were actually where I was putting a lot of distance on other cars.

Anyways, best run of the day was a 13.6 @ 103.45 MPH
R/T .666
60ft 2.181
1/8th 8.8 @ 82.4

Some people say that on a US spec track I would have ran anywhere from .2 to .4 quicker, but who really knows, or cares. Either way I was happy with a 13.6, assuming a stock A4 runs 13.9.

Me and Sygoat, camera battery went dead so I don't have pics of the run, someone got it on video though.

Me V. WRX (not STI), this WRX had a new intercooler and some other stuff done, was running 14.0-14.2.

Nice to have met ya man!

I had a pretty good day, a little slow with my 6er but i got 5 outta 6 kills...not too bad for my heavy thing!

BTW, the WRX you ran, hes my friend Scott....he just put a 2.5l STI short block in, upgraded turbo and new clutch and fly wheel so he was a little hesitant on the launches....he finally made it into the 13s by the end of the day.

Yeah, nice to have met everyone, thanks to Hawk for letting me borrow his helmet after I chose to not read the rules in the brochure!!!!!!!!!!!

All in all it was a great day, I even enjoyed the rustang, I mean Mustang folks.

:P

See everyone again in July!

Shakz has the video of me going against Sygoat.

Great timeslips Fast. With some traction it looks like you could get a 13.30 out of that car. I would suggest a Super Street Fighter 3500 stall from TCI. It is a lock-up converter so it stalls really good on the track but drives like a stock converter on the street. I have one in my Camaro and it makes one heck of a difference. It would put you close to the 12s.

Fast,

you can rent a helmet there for 30 Euro deposite and when you return it, you get 20 euro back.

July is Das Drag Day...its a VW beetle fest...you wont get as many runs :(

But see you there!

Really?

So basically it is a stock 2.something K converter for daily use and I just have to change a setting (lock it up) to get it to 3k?

Hmm, I have to research this.

Again, I had a great time and enjoyed running everyone. My worst time was a 14.3@102.9 I spun the hell out of that one.

The converter actually has kevlar clutches inside it that will slip under light throttle and lock together when you put the pedal down. It is controlled by a TTC solenoid located inside the tranny. Don't go under a 3500rpm stall though because the LS1 is a high reving engine and 3500rpm is where your peak torue is made. You will notice one heck of an improvement. You will definitely need those DR's if you get one.

I am definantly interested, I am just trying hard not to change the streetability of the car since it is my daily driver. I have stop and go traffic daily for work and don't want to drop the hammer just to get the car moving.

Everyone I talk to says to get a Converter, DR's, and a transgo shift kit to go with the predator.

BTW, I used to live in Bamberg in the mid 90's when I was a dependent, love the city.

The converter won't affect the driveability of the car. It will not stall all the way to 3500rpm anyway. You may get it to stall to 2000 when you are taking off from a light at easy throttle. The most I have gotten mine to stall at the track was 2600rpm. Then the tires would break loose. I used to be stationed at Bamberg from 92-97. I drove a 79 Cutlass with a hood scoop on it. It was a pretty fast car for me back then. Nothing like the Z is now. Just remember to order a trans cooler with the stall converter. My car doesn't even have a shift kit in it. I had the Torque Management remove from the computer. If you are planning a head/cam swap then I would skip on the programmer and have your computer tuned at Texas Speed and Performance once all the goodies are on it. They did a great job with mine. With just a cam, converter, Slp air lid, and computer tune, my car went 12.42@109 in Bitburg. With long tube headers and off road y-pipe it went 11.90@115. I picked up .4 tenths with just the computer tune.

Well, looks like you were at Bamberg around the same time as me.

Did you know a SFC Haugh back then who had a Harley?

Anyways, DR's are the next modification, hopefully can have that by the next Bit.

Coverter or Cam will follow on the heels of the DR's.

With DR's I wouldn't mind seeing 13.4 next time.

Don't be scared too much of the Beetle Day. Only a handful very good ones (i.e. Becker Tuning) go faster than 12 sec. and last year we had a total of 160 cars ("normal" events average is 110 - 130 cars)
Many just come to meet and to show - and I plan to set up the parking lot different starting next event, so you will get a designated "return way" through the parking lot.
Also I will rent the Motorpark in August, which means, there is a nice and larger round (slalom) track available for those who want to try something different.
