I guess we should do some quick brainstorming for the racing event ... Bruce, do you have a "todo" list yet? Once we do have a track secured, we have to act fast to get this going and get some attendance ...

for starters ...

- I assume Tony got the electronics ready? Christmas tree, timers, etc.
- cones for the road course and the AutoX
- power cords to get the electricity to the track for the timers, lights, computer(s)
- Roy, can you get a copy of the liability release form from the PCA people?
- registration forms
- number stickers (or some kind of paint stick)
- some change for the registration cashier
- tickets/stamp for spectators
- some food places to sell stuff during the event
- how/where to do the tech inspection?
- PA/Speakers for announcements
- computer, printer to keep the scores/results and print stuff
- flags for signals

Around the track itself:
- poles and stuff to keep people from running on the track
- mobile toilettes (probably have to rent them)
- walky talkies for org. communication
- couple of chairs and tables

and finally - quite a couple of people to do the work :)

Ok I will do what I can...

I will get the Liability papers as I work really close to Jim the president of the Porsche club.

I can get approx. 20 cones.

I can bring my laptop.

Let me know what cords for power we need i.e. 220 or 110 and length. I should be able to get these.

I can get a stamp/pad.

If someone has a truck I can get the chairs and tables.

I can also get some prc-127's(handheld radios)

The toilets are expensive.. The porsche club paid 200 DM for theirs to rent. If we keep the spectators cars outside of the airfield we will not need poles. The tech inspection is not necessary if we have the release, but we could do a small visual. I know help inspect and I am sure a few others can also..........

Let me know what else I need or can help with.....

I got mine here too, and can bring a wireless network to have results displayed on a screen or something ... (got a beamer at work ...)

Mainly 220 I would expect ...

If we go with a two-day event, I doubt we will or should do without ... depending on the number of pre-registrations, we should get by with two or three I guess ... Nürnberg had some 20 or so for 600+ cars, so ...

I'm not concerned about the cars of the spectators, but rather the spectators themselves plus the people racing ...

I agree with you on the toilet issue, but do you really see us getting a 2 day up and running in a short time? I am a firm believer in crawl, walk, run. I have seen many other groups try to hard to make a big deal on the first event and fall flat... I have also seen them shine.... All I can do is give my 100% to it and hope it works out....

I guess I can take care of:

- registration forms
- computer, printer to keep the scores/results and print stuff

Also, but not for the first event, I'm planning on setting up a computer prg for the events - beginning from registration, for storing the results, displaying current information and top-tens, maybe even keeping score for series of events ... I guess I'll be messing around with that through winter ...

That's one of the issues we will have to decide on I guess ... maybe we can do it 2 days, with FBE preparing (and having fun) on the first, and open for public participation on the second...

Just so you all know I'm still waiting to hear back from Hassan (the man who organizes the Fest. of Speed) I should hear back from him today with some kind of news and if not I'll track him down after work.

Looking at the list, I've been trying to do some thinking - with the time left for organizing this thing, it might be best to stick with the original idea and topic of the F-Body-Mustang shootout ... if anybody else shows up to run, they're welcome, but KISS might be the best way to go for starters ...

I have the christmas tree here in Vilseck. We can use the lasers for drag race and slalom in the same place and then move to the road coarse. We need to apply KISS for the first one make it a test and tune and next spring go for the gusto. I would need extension cords 220 volts I do not know how far it is to run a plug? I do have a abandon generator that runs. Some of us who run our cars know we are trying to do, and this stuff is a blast if you do it!!!
Anybody would be allowed to participate American, German 4,6,8,10,12 cyl are all welcome.

I can also get ahold of some extension cords (220V) as well... I think I have one that's about 100 yards long (or very close to it). Do we need anything else? I went to see my contact at the opel dealer yesterday but he was already gone for today but I left a message and should hear from him today.

Post subject:  Sembach anybody?

Did someone check with the PCA guys about the airfield in Sembach? I don't think we can set up a road course there, but it's plenty enough space for 1/4 and AutoX ... no electricity though ...

Are there any news on either Bitburg, Sembach or any other place yet?

Just checking again ... if there aren't any chances of getting them (quickly!), I could try and find out what cost would be involved to get the Fulda Sickels airfield for a day or two ... the strip isn't all the way flat, but should do for a test-and-tune event (not completely sure if it's sufficient for a quarter, but definitely for 1/8 - haven't measured it ...; check my videos for an impression ...) ... there's also plenty enough room to set up both a road course and an autox ... though we'd have to walk the course in order to clear some of the screws and stuff lying around on the larger field ...

OK... just made some calls ... the Fulda Sickels airfield is for rent, price is DM 500,- per day ... I will have to check with the appropriate place at the city (Ordnungsamt) due to possible dangers for drivers or visitors ... they may have some kind of regulations on what has to be done ...

In October, getting the place shouldn't be a problem, either, they do not have anything schedules there ...

Well - what now?
