Well, I know I haven't posted much here in the past and really have only met a few of the faithful, but I'm getting ready to PCS back to the US and couldn't mis out on going to the Ring. So Saturday I'm going up there with a buddy of mine from work (BMW driver) for my first and last run on the ring, but wanted to invite FbodyEurope to come too since this site has been so helpful while here in Germany.
I think we are going to drive up Sat (24 Jun) morning run a few laps then come back down Sat afternoon/evening.
BTW: Does any one have any good directions to the track, as I said this is my first trip.

Too bad you aren't going on Sunday, that's when I'm going.
http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamicheli ... mePage.htm
is good for directions, just use "Nürburg" as your destination city.
Enjoy your lap(s) there and take it easy! If you've got PS2GT4 experience that's no replacement for the real thing...
Ben

Listen to Ben he has the most laps on the Ring, around 500. Roy is second I think. You must respect it or you WILL GET HURT! Take your time and don't try to play hero out there. When we go as a group we always come back with one less car. Fortunately none of ours.

Trust me, I FEAR the ring. I am going to take it very easy. I'm not trying to be fast just want to want to miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Of course, the only reason I want to go on saturday is so I know I have a day to play with in case I have problems up there. I have to work Monday.
Hey Ben, what will it take to get you out there Saturday? I could really use a tutorial... I've been playing GT4 a lot, and downloaded the walkthrough I found in the track forum. Honestly though my goal is getting home in one piece don't really care about my times.

Problem is that I have a Vette testdrive on Saturday morning and in the afternoon the German soccer team is playing against Sweden. So there's no way I can be at the Ring on Saturday, sorry...

Well, I'll see if the guy I'm going with wants to go Sunday. He's starting to get a little nervous and I think he would jump at the chance to go with someone with your experience.
I'll let you know.
Scott
Hey if you buy the vetter, will you bring that?

BTW: If we do go Sunday, would you be willing to lead us through an easy lap - I'd be willing to pay that lap - I think it be an excellent investment in staying safe.

Sure, no problem guiding you through an easy lap, and you don't need to pay me, I have a 100-lap ticket, so no problem...

Good thing about summer is that even if it rains occasionally the track will be dry again in a short time... (on the other hand usually only about 30% of the people that drive in the dry also drive in the rain there -> more space).

Cool, I'd probably run in the Rain, but right now I'm only planning on doing the 4-lap ticket, so hopefully it will be dry all day. I'll know tomorrow if my bud from work is going or not. I'll let you know.

I think the best is to meet at the Nordschleife parking lot. You must follow the signs that say "Zufahrt Nordschleife".
There are actually 3 parking areas:
The one with the restaurant "Grüne Hölle" on one side of the roundabout.
The gravel parking on the other side and behind that the grass. I usually don't drive on the main parking area as it's crowded most of the time.
If you come by an "ED gas station" there you must drive to the other side under the Nordschleife Nürburgring to get to the entrance and the parking areas mentioned above.
I'll be there at about 10h.
Take a look at this map:

You're right, meeting at ED gas station is easier (to find). So let's meet there. As I wrote I'll be there at about 10h.
EDIT: I PM'ed you my cell phone number.
