Post subject: | May Dyno Day and Pro Tune |
Looks like MM got another tuner to show up if they can get 20 vehicles to commit. Vendor is HP Performance, they are the guys who showed up last year. HP Performance is a well respected speed shop in Florida. Tony does some of the best work in the industry on Ford's and is also well respected for working on GM's. Tony specializes in Turbo and SC applications. http://forums.mightymustangs.net/index. ... 17248&st=0 UPDATE: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144286 |

Sounds promising as they got a lot of people signed up once again. I went last yr just to watch and learn. I'll be going again this yr too and hopefully w/ the car. |

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY! If you question Tony @ HP Performances ability to tune GM's do not worry. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144286 Garry, please let some of the other European sites know about this if you could. Thanks. |

Question is how much good this will do (in HP and Torque) once you already do a decent base tune for your mods ... would suck to shell out $300 or so for 10hp/10tq extra ... Also, another requirement would be that the tune isn't locked ... sure, there are only like 65000 possible keys, but trying out 256 a day (which probably takes about 3-4 hours) would mean about 4 months to find it (statistically speaking - worst case scenario 8 months) |

Garry I am with you on this . Right now I am sucking tunes out of every 97 and later LSX variant I can get my tuner on. And I am seeing some real hatchet jobs from so called tuners. Igot one from a 2000 Camaro that the guy paid 400 dollars for . All I seen was the rev limiter was bumped up a couple hundred rpm, the speed limiter removed and the idle raised 100 rpm But he is happy with it. |

Well I can tell you from 1st hand experience Tony does more than what you described. I sat there and watched and asked him a ton of questions and he answered them all and gave brief demostrations of what he was talking about. Again though this isn't very beneficial to lightly modded cars like a CAI or exhaust that's a waste. So w/ that said there are a limited amount of Fbodies and Goats alike that could see a gain or better driveability and that will be the issue w/ me "driveability". |

Not saying Tony is. I know first hand that your not tuning in an LS1 with HC and headers in 30mins or less unless it is a canned tune. A hour and half at best to get it right with a Dyno. Thats my take |

... which is partly what I'm wondering about here, too ... they got 16 or 18 cars on the list for the Rustangs already - and (from what I read) it is more work to do there, as he needs to re-program a chip, replace it, probably re-run the dyno, reprogram again ... dunno how many cars they'll actually be able to tune in two (or even three?) days ... Anyhow, even if I don't go there to get the car tuned, it would be a good thing to just come there, look & learn, and hang out ... ![]() |

Well when I was there every car saw up to 2 hrs. Some were faster than others because he saw the problem kinda quickly. I know your concerns believe me but I was impressed. He even took a few out on the road and did real world conditions (I know the preferred method) but considering the time he had to work w/ you couldn't ask for more. |

Well the math is very simple . So far there is 17 cars participating. Thats up to 34 hours of time right there . Hope there is not to many tricky cars to tune. Garry there is shop in Northern Switzerland that tunes LSX engines . He tuned AutobahnZ06's car to over 500hp with just the hot cam heads and headers. It took about 4 hrs to get it right though. I am seriously thinking about letting him do mine . It is rather pricey though . |

I think you guys are being a little more doomsday than necessary. He is going to be doing these cars over 2-3 days and from what I heard from last time out it all worked fine for everyone. I have heard great things about this guy as far as his abilities and trustworthiness so that is all I can say. I will be there and I know my car is going to need at least an hour and I am going to demand real world road tuning because there is a difference between the dyno and the road. See you guys there if you want to participate, doesn't look like we are going to have a problem getting 20 cars. I am expecting about 410rwhp, but the bottom line is that dyno numbers aren't everything it is about how your modifications match and then how it is all tuned together. |

Well with everyone wondering how much a tune would help I was under the impression that there might be a misunderstanding on expectations, not every car needs 4 hours on a dyno and in most cases even a 15rwhp increase in power is great when it is tied to an overall increase in performance such as better driveability, throttle repsonse, and for Automatics shifting. He was tuning cars for use with Nitrous last time with Naz being the perfect example.... ![]() Anyways, I just want to make sure everyone knows this is available. Tony was trying to sign up for this website but had some issues. Here is what he told me: 1) He does not lock tunes 2) He always takes the car for a drive after the dyno run to make sure everything is in synch on the road and on the dyno 3) He ensures every car is tuned to his best ability which is why he worked long hours last time and Henni kept the shop open after hours. If you are interested you just need to add your name over at Mighty Mustangs. ![]() |
