Well the camaro / firebird nameplates could not be used before 2007 due to legal entanglements with the closing of the St. Therese plant in Canada.

Ok, my problem with that is the "low-cost" idea. I know that when they originally came out it was the cheap way to go fast, and that is all fine and good, but why call it that?? I just dont like it.
My second thing is, if they can revive the Camaro name, why not the Firebird?? I was happy to see the revival of the GTO, but the original GTO as legendary as it was still was only made from 64-74 or so (not sure of the final year). The Firebird was a staple for 35 years right?? That seems a bit more logical to me. Even if they arent based on the same platform as they always have been.
