I have 17x9" SS wheels. Imagine that I have a SS. They have 275/40R17 on them right now, which look huge to me (I'm use to my Honda tires still). Anyway I was wondering if anyone knows what is the widest tire that will safely fit the stock 17x9" rim and fit under a stock suspension F-body without any rubbing. Thanx
Or
Option 2 - what is the best tire for traction in a 275/40 size?

Personally I would stick with the 275 on your 9"s. I don't think you can go much wider without the tire hanging over. With a little work and 11"s you can fit 315's . From what I have heard that is the widest you can fit. I thought about it, but the tires are expensive. So I settled for 275s.
or
Tire wise depends on whether you are talking dry or wet. For dry weather race tires people are using the Nitto's.

I had 315s on my ws6 rims. 17x9. But like he said, they hang out a little.

True, true 315 equals mad cash. I will probably stick with the 275s, that's just angry cash then, just need to make a good tire choice so I get some traction. For the first part of the summer I will probably just run the tires that are on the stock wheels and do lots of smoke shows until I need new ones. Should be fun.

You can always just get a cheap set of wheels to race on, then just put the on when you go out, then you can keep a good set of tires for regular driving.

Probably will do that when I get back to the states. I will either have a set of slicks or drag radials on a extra set of wheels.

I know they are black and round. You usually purchase them in quantities of four. Hope this helps.

Both are awesome tires!! The Nittos also come in 285 which will fit on th 9" rim perfectly and look awesome!!! They are only a few bux more than 275s too

What specific things do you want to know about the Yoks. I run the AV1 also known as the intermediates. But There is nothing intermediate about this tire.

The A032 is a auto cross tire with a life expectancy no longer than about 8,000 miles, i you donot auto cross. It sounds like a 4wheeler between the speeds of 50-80 mph. If you donot have at least -.5 degrees camber Preferrably -1 to -1.5 you will never really get the full potential out of this tire . as compared to ohthr tires there is only one better in the dry. that is the Kumho V700, but there is none better in the wet then the A032. The A032 was designed for in the wet conditions . It is a little pricey for how long it lasts.

Thanks Roy! I think that was well enough info for me not to buy those! I want a tire to last a little longer than 8,000 and is quiet.
