Hi,

I sometimes get a "chain-like rattling" in my Camaro. When I listen from outside while the motor is running, I can hear it clearly as it is relatively loud. I went to the Opel dealer and he said (of course, argh...) he couldn't hear anything.

Well, maybe that's even true because this strange sound isn't there all the time, it comes and goes. I only know one thing: When I turn ON the A/C, the chain-rattling disappears immediately! When I turn it off, it sometimes comes back again...

A friend of mine who saw my Camaro the first time recently said "This is a V8? It sounds like sh**..." (it was rattling again) ;)

Anybody got an idea?

Ben

Check your A/C compressor clutch clearance. Or just check to see if your A/C compressor pulley/clutch is loose. Hope this helps. Peace

sounds like a heat shield. Pick it up while rattleing and just start touching stuff. Hint the one over the muffler.

Not really, unfortunately. :( The A/C clutch clearance and the pulley seem OK to me (although I'm no expert with these things, so I might be wrong). I'll have to take it to the dealer again next year and let him check it again... I mean I still have warranty...
