Has anyone replaced their standard non-lockable fuel cap on the Camaro/Firebird with a lockable one? Were there any problems with the "Service Engine" light because it's not the original cap? Can you put the new cap on that "thing" that holds the old cap so it doesn't fall down?

Ben

Perhaps not very helpfull because I have a 1994,
but, yes, i have a "Stant" lockable fuel cap (my first "mod" ;) ). No SES, no problems. But my car hasn´t that "thing" that holds the fuel cap.

Please forgive my ignorance but why would you want one? I have one on my 84 audi and it is annoying so I leave it unlocked.

Well, yes it's comfortable but what if some idiot tries to do the "sugar-in-the-fuel-tank"-mod?

Yep, there are to many envious people :(
The lockable cap is much cheaper than a new engine!

There are even people that steal gas (no joke) - 2,00DM per liter is a good reason...

Plus the fact that the screw-on cap on my '87 Z28 was like a Rolex watch next to the cheap piece of cack that's on my '98. I knew there was a price to pay for that LS1. A friend has a locker on his 95 Trans Am - is that the same SES light system?

Hm ... my '79 has a lockable cap, too ... not like the '98 ... not that I would necessarily leave my Camaro unattended for too long, but ... maybe we can make a GP? I guess there are a good 10-20 people who might want one? Maybe Tony can come up with a good deal somewhere ... (maybe I should hook the fuel lid up to my alarm ... :) )
