Do exhaust systems that split into two after the back axle using a Y piece, which do not have any muffler box after the split have equal pressures out of the pipes ends?

Is it important to have equal pressures, does it make the sound better?

Since nobody ever answered this, I'll go ahead and do so. It would help, and that is why true duals are ideal. Most of the exhaust goes out the closer side, but it is definitely better to have an exhaust that is bigger than stock, especially if you go from the headers-back! ;)

It may be academic, Jack, as Jagsy inverted his Z28 some time ago and has since defected to an HSV which, as he'll tell you, has true duals anyway. Still not as fast as a Zee!

"Taxi!"

He he.

Jack
You are toooooooo kind. Thank you. I did the split on the Zed and it looked and sounded WONDERFUL.

As Lucy says, i am in a HSV which has a 56mm dual pipe system. Trouble is its a bit quiet. It has 2 BIG mufflers (one in each pipe) at the moment. I think they'll get ditched and replaced with a expansion chamber like on the SLP loudmouth.

the big gain will be the ceramic coated 4-1 headers which are hopefully going on in the spring. 20 HP gain i hope????

Lucy
Remember a stock HSV super saloon with 4 passengres will do the 1/4 just under 14 secs. (I hope he he)

We'll see, Jagsy, we'll see. Evil laugh rings out and echoes in a cheap overproduced sort of way).

The 350bhp Pontiac GTO did the quarter in 13.6 which ain't bad - he must have had the meter running - pahahahahahahahahaa

Besides which, I now have my MBA pedals, gearknob and rear inserts fitted - gotta be worth half a second in the quarter. LOL!
