Hi all,

i think all of you made this "strange" experience with the Camaro/Firebird-Brakes on german streets. You drive on the Autobahn with top speed and it happens: suddenly a wise guy or girl changes to the left lane and you have to brake very hard ... after a half second of braking you have the feeling, that you lost your mirrors and the doorhandles. Not only the steeringwheel is shakin' but the whole car.

I asked several dealers and garages over here. Everybody told me that this is normal. I heard from the "GT3/GT2"-Brakes by movit ... but they charge about 4.500,- German Marks for one axle (and only the material).

Does someone here know another (cheaper) way to make the brakes more powerful and stable? Perhaps with another combination of discs and pads?

Thanks for your help.

The only way to make them better is to get Powerslot or KVR rotors and set of pads like the Hawks. You can also get the Stainless Steel Lines to help. If you make sure your wheels are torqued to 100lbs ft and you do them in the proper pattern, you will not have much problems. I do not get the shakes, but I do lose some pedal after a long use of the brakes. Hope this helps...

Garry,

on September 8th/9th to Hockenheim? Sure, why not, if my car is not sold until this date. What type of event is it?

It is a large car show.. The perfect place to sell the car. It might even make you want to keep it:) There will be quite a few members from the club there. Hope to see you there....

Hi Levy,
last weekend I started a race with a biker. BIG Mistake!!
On the curvy road he could not overtake, but when we approached a village I had to brake really hard, because there was a tight bend.
I floored the brake pedal and it became soft as pudding.
A strong smell of burning brakepads came into the car and there was no noticeable braking power.
I wonder how I managed to pass the bend, but I felt like a small boy caught stealing. It was embarassing!!
The biker probably had the biggest laugh in his life.
Afterwards I checked the rotors: Fortunately no cracks. The rotors had been replaced one week before.
The front wheels were covered with black liquid dirt (I only know dust from the pads). I wonder if the pads were fried??
So here is the conclusion:
What is the strongest car worth if it cannot brake??
I will save my money for the Movit Porsche GT3 brakes.
They say you can get it with TÃœV.
This is more valuable than any engine tuning.
With the OE brakes I cannot move the car the way I want.

Gunnar
