I did a little research about changing my LT1 T56 to one that would fit the LS1. I don't think it would be worth it in the long run. You would have to change the input shaft (about $300) and the front plate (no clue on the cost) and of course the bellhousing. If you had most of these from an old/broken trans the cost might not be that much and may make it worth it as a spare.
It doesn't matter anyhow. The motor and transmission are already sold and have made their way to France (Francis came and got it yesterday).
