I know that people that invest large sums into their cars (like stereo, etc.) can get additional coverage ... dunno about US insurances, though ... nor rates ...

Are you referring to a company called Compressive or comprehensive coverage? Comprehensive insurance covers you for the NADA value of the car, I'm looking to insure it for an appraised value.

Yes you can , but you will have to pay for the Gute Achten which is done by a Gute Achter. Even though you pay him, you may not like what he tells you . You will have to pay for German Tariff insurance since the NAto Tariff doesn't cover that. Could be slighty more expensive.

OK, that may not be a good option. I did get a quote from AIG, but they require my primary car be insured with themas well, aside from the "recreational" vehicle. They were pretty expensive though...
