I'm looking into replacing the tires that I have on the ride as soon as I change the rims.... I use to like the tires I have on my car now (Pirelle P7000's) But it seems that after only 8,000 mi. they don't handle to well anymore and that the tread is wearing faster than I would like.... Yeah I know the occasional burnout dosen't help but my car spends more time in storage than it does on the road. What I'm looking for is normal... a tire with alot of traction and will last for a while... and hopefully won't cost me an arm and a leg. I was looking into getting 17" Rims....... any help would be appreciated!

The only tire that I used to run were SZ-50's, in fact I had 3 sets... but now there is a new king!!!
Nitto 555
They are absolutely awesome!!!

Treadwear is 300...which is surprisingly high because they hook really well and...here in NC, when it rains there is always standing water on the ground. My car with the Nittos (285 / 40ZR17s) does better in the rain that my Blazer with 255 / 60ZR16s!!!

Here's what Nitto sez:

With a specially formulated compound and one of the biggest contact patches available, the NT-555 provides superior traction, reliable handling, and delivers total vehicle control. The three-circumferential grooves channel water efficiently, while the lateral grooves break up the water wedge. This combination of grooves and channels reduces the chance of hydroplaning.

I am gonna throw the Kuhmos in the mix They are good wearing tires and for 560 shipped for 4 275 40 17's that arrived in 4 days, I can not complain

These are not drag radials. The nitto 555R (DR) is a shaved 555 that Jamey is talking about.

I have the Dunlop SP9000. They seem to work pretty good to me. How they work at the track, we will see.

Both of these places have really good prices. Just depends on the size and model as to which has the better price. I ordered mine from Discount Tire Direct and had them in about 3 days. But, keep in mind, that was not to Europe!!!

Does anyone know anything about YOKOHAMA A032R's?? Treadwear is 280 and that's about all I know. Is the higher the # the treadwear the better... but less grip or is it the other way around??

The higher the number the longer the tire is supposed to last...Does not necessarily mean that it has less traction.
