I ordered Geiger springs to lower my 2000 V6 convertible. I intended to lower it about 1 1/4", just enough to get the wheels concentric into the fenders.
The springs that arrived will lower the car for about 2".
Besides the nasty appearence that I expect from this 2" drop I fear two consequenses:
- The ride will become to hard. Since my car is a vert the harder ride will cause body shakes and twists and will soften the body and frame over a longer period. High speed handling will be worse on wobbly Autobahns.
- The clearance will be to low, parking garages, railroad Xings and the like will become a problem.
Can anyone share his experience, please?
Thanks
***UPDATE:***
The springs have been installed yesterday. It isn´t as low as I feared - aprox. 35 mm. However, the rear was lowered a bit further than the front. The car has now got a nicely levelled appearance although the gap over the rear wheels is about 5mm smaller than the gap over the front wheels. But anyways - the whole thing has to settle for a few hundred kms untill the final result will be visible, I suppose.
The ride quality is fine - the car doesn´t appear to be much "harder", no rattles on bad roads so far.

Speed humps become a no-go area. Car can get beached on rough roads and bend the bottom of the wings. The BMR transmission brace makes it far worse. Overall, though, it cuts roll and makes the car look 100% better. If you're worried about flex, weld on some sfc's.

I remember a few years back on my first F Body whern I went to park off road in a local park and when I tried to get back on the road the undercarriage got stuck temporarily.
F Bodies are very focused machines...and are made for smooth, fast , dry roads... anything other than that and you will have problems if you are not aware of what could happen

When I still had my camaro I had it lowered and never had problems with rough rides but like was said earlier speed bumps should be avoided and you will have to be more careful when you are parking your ride
