hello :)

maybe i can get centerline gt wheels.
Front 9,5 X 17 with 255/40 ZR17
Rear 11 X 17 with 315/35 ZR17

Is it a good driving with so big wheels? In the moment i have 275/40 ZR 17 on 9 X 17, is it much different?

How is it with quartermile? It must be better with the 315/35 ZR17, right?
How is it with driving over 200 km/h with those tires?

They are looking very cool 8)

Theoretically slower as you increase the drag.

it also matters what tires and how much air you have in your tires @ over 200kmh

Jens, you have a pic of the wheels? :D

i don´t have pics in the moment.

I want to know, if the camaro still runs good with such those big tires or is it getting much problems, when you driving fast around corners or fast on the highway. And the quartermile must be in better time because of better traction, or?

Now i have kumhos and on the centerline they are also kumhos. Not the best, but still ok in my opinion.

They will definitely grip better, assuming it's as good or better a tire as you're used to using. My cousin has a '95 355 ci turbo Z28 with 315s on the back, and that thing handles like a slot car.

are these the wheels from that 25th Ann. TA? If so put them on and give it a try. I love how my car drives with the 275 and it was a big improvement compared to the 245. I think it will feel even better with the tire combination on centerline ;)

Jens, I don't think that tire size is the weak link on your Camaro. Unless you do a lot of things to improve the handling you are only going to waste your money on 315/35 ZR17 tires. But if it is the "looks" that you want, then do it.
From my experience (I have 295/30 ZR18, but not on a Camaro) I know the following:
a) such wide tires cost a lot of money.
b) they are very sensitive to tire pressure. The tire pressure spreads the tire to keep the tread area flat and on the road. Slightly higher pressure and the center wear out. Slightly lower pressure and the center wear out at high speed (because the centrifugal force tries to bow the center outwards).
c) they are very sensitive to camber adjustments. It breaks your heart when you still have 5mm of tread in the center and the canvas show on the inner flank.
d) they are not very directional stable. It is not worrying, but you have to get used to it.
e) your car will be slower due to the extra drag.
f) you will not be faster on the 1/4 mile, unless your previous tires were inadequate.
g) every time you drive in the rain or hit a puddle of water (at speed) you cr*p your pants!
h) they are very noisy (like a drum skin).

So those are the disadvantages. Tha advantages can be realised when you have a suspension that can make use of the extra rubber, you keep an eye on your alignment and your driving situation warrants it (like track use).

words that can be taken to the heart.

Not too mention the fact that you have a 99% chance that they will rub if the rim offset is not correct.

Key point Roy- offset. You really need to make sure that you get the right offset Jens.

the wheels were coming from an 1994´th trans am 25th anniversary. The owner told me, the wheels are running perfect. They also fit perfect.

I will get them in the next two weeks. I will install them and then drive a few miles, to see, how they are running.

Than i will decide, if i will keep then or not.

Thanks for your answers. :)

Another disadvantage that you will probably never notice is the car will tend to understeer more when driven hard .

That is a point i really hate. Driving by raining with so big tires must be worther than with my actually tires.

But let´s see, when i put them on my camaro. I will test you and let you know.

Since it's a TA their fender well is a lot larger than say a camaro. So if he's running a 36mm offset on those 11" wheels you're screwed because it's gonna stick out the fender well by a good 1" 1/2. You need to ask what offset those 11's are before even considering purchasing.

today i put the wheels on my maro. It fits without any problems. I don´t know, how they are driving, i will check this in the next week. I also put my lower control arms with relocation brackets and my panhard rod under my car. :D

I´ve made photos from my maro with this wheels. But i don´t have webspace. I can sent them, if someone want to see it.
