Some time ago, I decided to swap sway bars between my Firehawk and the Camaro (stock Firehawk SB, BMR solids on the Camaro). Well, afterwards the car (Firehawk w/ BMR SB) was really noisy. Plus, while the car felt great on just about any road, it all of a sudden scared me every time I hit a bump or ridges in the road, especially at 60+mph.
Well, I finally got around to greasing the sway bars where they are held by the two bushings in the middle ... not only is the noise gone (surprise
), but I also have the old ride quality back that the Firehawk had before the swap. Turns out the mostly ungreased bushings must have been holding the sway bars so tightly that they couldn't get any work done ... driving back from Bitburg yesterday, the stretches that were especially bad to drive hardly required any work on my side to keep the car straight ...
So, if your sway bars should start getting noisy, take the time and a tube of silicone grease and fix it ... it's definitely worth the time!!!
