All beware...i recently got inspected by Spangdahlem and failed for 2cm too low. I borrowed some factory from Blaine... put the rear ones in which leveled out the car and failed for 1cm. So is anyone else's base inspection team this critical... or are we just lucky up here. Frome the other thread, i have on my Strano springs now so i want to hunt for an F body friendly inspection place...any hook-ups out there?

Are you talking about some kind of MOT or TUV inspection ? And your car failed for being 2cm lower than the factory standard height ? If that's so I am amazed these people have nothing better to do with their lives !!
I know a geezer in England who sell Eibach springs at a very good price. I'll pass on his details if that's any use to you ?

If that's so I am amazed these people have nothing better to do with their lives !! It is for a type of "MOT" to get US military vehicles inspected for use here. IT does not go off of stock height. Here is the regulation they have: "Minimum body ground clearance must not be less than 8 centimeters for flexible body parts such as ground-effect spoilers or air dams and 11 centimeters for hard parts such as exhaust, frame components, and suspension." They have been nailing a lot of people with this one lately. I think even more so than the exhaust dB! Either way, they do NOT have anything better ro do apparently.

LOL I see so many cars that are way below this and they are German. I would love to see them fail a TuV approved car.

these a-holes would, they are so full of "He said POOP", that its best to take a copy of the regulation with you. I ask them to show me where it fails, when they can't...i let em know they are full of it.

If you bring a copy, make sure it has the first page with the date.

With my Strano springs, my Y-pipe is lower than 11cm. Good I have to deal with TUV "only"...

Sorry to highjcak, but this brings me to a question. I have been trying to figure out how to get a TUV done and have been considering attempting it. What has to be done? What do they look for in a TUV?

If it's still stock US (kind of) and was never in the German system, it won't be that easy ... you need a "Vollabnahme" that goes beyond the regular TÃœV checks. You also need several mods (like headlamps etc.) to have it comply with German regulations ... you could try to contact the place where I had my engine rebuilt and see if they can run it through their TÃœV guy ... Expect to pay some high 3-digit Euro amount ... (or possibly low 4-digit)

Yeah i was sitting at 8 cm (failed)...took out my stereo and let it hang for a while...9cm (fail) put the factory rear springs in 10cm(fail)...finally replaced the front and the inspector stayed under my car for about 10 minutes looking for spacers. Spacers are legal BTW. I was told later that the germans have no set limit on clearance but 11cm have been the standard and it's in the eye of the beholder. So if the guy likes lowriders...pass, if he don't fail. I also had a guy tell me that the german have something called AGB (translation please) that they can actually certify your vehicle for being lowered because of sport suspension. I will try to find out more....for us Spang guys it's the Spaceship TUV off B51 but i haven't went there yet.

theshadowed1 wrote: german have something called AGB (translation please) "AGB" would be "Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen", something like general bye-laws for company contracts ... more likely, you mean "ABE", "Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis", general permission of usage. ABE-certified car parts mean you can put them on without getting a special inspection and permit. Some parts can be put on a car without any other requirements, some still have to be put into the car papers ... the latter usually just being a formality, though they may require at least a quick inspection from TÜV or similar ...

What is an "approved" spacer?

i guess the germans sell spacers/spring boosters too to raise your vehicle. They are TUV approved.
