Welcome to the board! Glad to have you. About how far away are you from Frankfurt? Driving time that is.

Hello and thanks for the friendly answers.

Frankfurt is 400 km from me. I live north-west from Frankfurt.

My camaro convertible is an 3,8 ltr. V6 euro-version, but in the summer i bought a 2000ér wrecked Trans Am WS6. The engine and the manuel-transmission is ok and i´m just changing the V6 to V8. It is big work, but when i´m ready, my camaro will be very fast 8) .

Have a nice day.
Jens

Ouch ... in the States, nobody would consider doing that, as the total cost is usually higher than selling the V6 and buying a V8 ... but then, getting a V8 'vert in Germany is pretty hard ... did you check with TÃœV what they had to say about it??
Hope you do succeed with all that work ahead of you!

you are right. In germany it is very hard, to find a LS1 Camaro "Convertible". So i decided, to change the engine. I have the hole winter, to change the engines.

I´d spoken with the TÜV and it is not a problem, it cost money, but they will akzept it.
The good thing is, that the german camaro-version already have the same brakes and steering like the german z28. I bougth another wheels (8,5X17" front with 235/45 ZR17 and 10X17" with 255/40 ZR17), so no problem of the speed. I also bought an SLP-cold air induction kit and a flowmaster thunder exhaust system.

The work is very hard, because my V6 was with autmatic and the V8 is with manuel-transmission. But i have everything, what i need for changing.

I will tell you, when i´m ready with this project.

Jens

Sounds cool ... :ok:

Hm ... LS1 & T56 ... dreaming

You may want to check on getting a decent drive shaft and other improvements while you're at it - what all have you done to you suspension? The V6 'vert can't handle the power it already has, so you should probably check into getting things like sway bars, STB, SFCs etc. ... don't see how you keep the car on the road at 200+km/h ...

I don´t have done very much about the suspension. I put the WS6-shocks in the camaro but next year, when i have the money for it, then i will put koni-shocks in my camaro. I have lower springs in my camaro, but i also want next year another swaybar, etc.

Welcome to the club!

Wow, I always thought about a LS1 swap, but I never found an affordable donor car - may I ask how much you payed for the wrecked WS6? Where did you get it? And any estimates for the TÃœV fees? (Is this a Einzelabnahme or a Vollabnahme for XXXX EUR?)
Sorry for all the questions, but i´m really curious :)

Good luck with your swap!
I think swapping the wiring harness will be the hardest thing.

sure you can ask.

I found the Trans Am WS6 2000ér with 24000 mls. in the internet of http://www.mobile.de It has a big crash on the top and the rear left site. a little crash at the front. The Engine and T56-Transmission is in a good chape, also everything inside of the car is good. I bought this car for 5.000,- Euro. But i sold the leather-seats, the dashboard, the left door and the hood. For those thinks i get 1.600 Euro. When i´m ready with the changing, i will sell my 3,8 ltr. engine and automatic transmission, it has run about 27000 mls. I think, i will get about 1.500,- Euro including Exhaust, harness, and everything else.

You see, it is not so expensive, to change the engines, when you are bying a wrecked car.

I´m not changing the engines on my own, i have a good mechanic, who is doing the most of the job. I´m only helping. I must pay this mechanic about 600-700 Euro for everything.

For the TÃœV i drive to a company near hamburg, i must pay about 500,- Euro for the TÃœV.

And yes, changing the wiring harness was the hardest thing, because you must change the harness also inside the car. But that is already done, thank good.

I often read at LS1.com and LS1tech.com, that in the state they often make the LS1-swap. There i have the most information about the swapping.

I thing, i will be ready at march of next year.

Jens

 WOW! That is some project you have planned. Hope that all goes well. I see that you now know where to go for info! Good luck and hope to see you cruising this summer! BTW, the Flowmaster American Thunder system is loud, hope that it's OK with the TuV. I do love mine, it sounds great and it made a huge improvement in torque. Then again, I have a LT1, don't know how big of an improvement it'll make on your car. Is the driveshaft and swaybars OK on the wrecked one?

i hope, that the flowmaster sounds good. When i´m driving to the TÜV, then i will put an original muffler under my car, but when i have the TÜV, then the Flowmaster will come under my car. 8)

the driveshaft and the swaybar are in good condition, they will come in my camaro, but i want some better swaybar next year.

I also hope, that everything will work fine. I can tell you more next year.

Jens
