hi everyone i liove in jacksonville florida but my wife if from germany. so i was playing around the usual fbody site and came across this site. i like it. we thought about moving back over there a few times but it seems real exspensive. but i did have a few question if we did maybe someone could shed some light on.
do i have to do anything special to my car if i bring it over? i have a 86 trans am 383 stoker nothing stoke left. does this matter? i still have family there who could pick up the car for me until i get there.

i also heard they pay top dollar for hot rods (fbodyies and mustangs) over there. is that true?

anyways hope to one day meet some of you.

mike

Hi Mike
Since you been to Germany before , then you know the deal with Tuev. Highly modified cars can have problems in this area.

no my wife is from there i have never been myself. she really wants to move back there but i have reservations. mainly my car.

what about part 2 of the question is there a high price for our cars over there i have several cars, my trans am, a stock 91 camaro and a almost stock 87 mustang lx 5.0....i was thinking of selling them to help fund the cost of moving there, and someone told me you can get alot more for them there because its" american mucle"type cars.

Mike it depends on the car . Best bet would probably put them on German ebay with a reserve.
It gets real expensive fast for cars . Especially if the taxes still need to be payed on them. Which is 29 percent I beleive for import and sales tax.
Are you in the Military ?

If the price is right the taxes are not problem . Also don't forget shipping. The price has to be attractive for the European buyer.
For example you have your set price that you want. The european buyer still has to pay the taxes plus shipping over here. So a price that may seem okay in the states between a buyer and a seller , could be cost prohibitive for a buyer in Germany.

With some "tricks" you might be able to get it through TÃœV and AU ...
Btw, is there any racing going on in northern FL on Thursday night? I'm coming through on the 3rd on the way to NC ... :)

Stay in J-ville the exchange rate stinks. Taxes are high. Gas is high, it cost $167 to fill up the the Jeep the other day. A coworker just got sacked with a 4300 euro water bill.

That is what Garry is asking. I really don't picture Garry as a street racer. I drove through J'ville back in November 2004 when I picked up the car in Orlando. I couldn't stop at a light without someone trying to race me, it was rediculous. My brother tells me it still the same. When we were younger we went to 1st Street to cruise at Jax Beach.

... and especially not with the rental ... even though at 16.4, it could probably beat some of the ricers out there ...
