Wow, 90HP in a car that weighs ~1000lbs is phenomenal. I'd be extremely happy if I even had that much in the Bug. 34HP SUCKS ASS!

Hey, you´re in bug-land, there are many companys that will bring that 1200 to life ;)
A friend of mine just bought a grey granny-style 1968 Kafer with red leather interior, evev with a "automatic" badge on the back. LOL
Looks slow like hell, but has like 100 horses... 8)

Any idea how many CCs it is? Does he have connections? I'd really like to get at least a 1600 in here. I don't think it's worthwhile to even attempt at modding a 1200.

He knows a lot about Kafer at all...
i´ve asked him and will let you know when i know details (urls, data etc).
I think its a Typ4 bored to 1800cc, but i´m not sure.
(it has less hp than possible at all, just to stay reliable)

But also the Typ 1 with 1200 has potential.
The bug engine is pretty cool, you can simply change pistons, cylinders/sleeves and get over 2L that way.

BTW there are a lot of well known bug freaks and experts in Bitburg, if you come there, too, just ask :)

Wow, 1800 is quite impressive. I only wish. ~drool~

Would you be willing to ask him if he knows of any 1600+ engines for sale? I'd really appreciate it.

Ok, got some new info. The T1 / 1200 can be stroked out to 2100, but you need to do some serious work on the crank housing and lots of expensive stuff like a new crankshaft, camshaft, different rods, pistons, cylinders, carbs, an oil cooler etc etc etc...
So getting a 1600+ T4 engine seems really easier.
Or you get just some bigger weber carbs and try to get some more out of the 1200, would be much cheaper.

Some links from the bug guy:
http://www.csp-shop.de
(german parts shop, they also have a entire english website)

http://www.cbperformance.com
(US website, they have crazy $hit like turbo kits)

I told him to register here and post himself, perhaps he will do that this evening.

Thanks for the link, Chris. That's awesome. I knew it would not be worth it to mess with the 1200..
