While I don't really get the point with having those two stripes on the fender, it looks pretty nice all around!

sorry man, I work on E-hof now. Right across the street from the mexican cantina at the WPC.

Ben,
Wheels came from a guy in the states that totaled his car. Wheels have been used for 10 track weekends with track pads. I'm guessing something like Hawk Blue/Black pads because the dust is baked on like crazy. The tires had 1 heat cycle on them, not new, but not anywhere close to being used up either. They aren't going to win any shows anytime soon, but they're just for AutoX.

Roy, translation please?

Garry,
Short version on the hash marks is that they are a tribute to Corvette racing history. Back in the days before in-car radio one of the race teams had 3 Grand Sport Corvette race cars painted the same and they couldn't see the number very well from the pits so they put different color marks on the side of the cars. In 96 the limited edition Corvette Grand Sport was Blue w/ a white racing stripe and 2 red hash marks in honor of the 2 major international wins of the origional '63 Grand Sports. The C5-Rs carried the strips for most of their time in service and now the C6.Rs are wearing them.

I've got thick skin

BTW, I'm going for attempt #3 at installing the Wilwoods this weekend. IF I don't have to order anything else....again, and everything actually fits....finally, I'll bring the calipers up to Bitburg the next weekend.

Back in the 60's, racing teams often had several cars with similar paint schemes driving at one time. It got confusing! With cars whizzing by at high speeds, combined with sometimes hectic work, race teams found the need to distinguish their cars and or drivers from one another. They accomplished this by simply applying one or two stripes on a hood, nose or fender. The most famous use for these stripes comes from the awesome lightweight 1963 Grand Sport Corvettes inspired by the father of the Corvette himself, Dora Arkus Duntov. These marvels dominated the track and brought down the almost unbeatable AC Cobras and Ferraris of the day. The stripes reappeared in 1996 with the revival of the legendary Grand Sport Corvette name and color scheme in the last year of the C4 design.
