Something tells me this is going to hurt Roy's time a little
There's a sucker born every min. This fool actually let James drive his car...
I thought about this later. It's a pretty cool idea for a picture, but not exactly the smartest place to stand
Here's Roy attempting to drift in the rain.
and a short video clip
http://www.klh-racing.com/AutoX%20Files/MVI_2113.AVI
(he was later seen drag racing I don't think he was feeling very well this weekend
not bad for a 1st timer. Just a little extra body-roll and a touch of understeer.
you know those warnings about SUVs flipping over...
This guy didn't listen
he also missed the part about driving on the tire tread instead of the sidewalls, but that's just details.
Of course it seemed that body roll is a problem for me too.
considering that's on street tires, I'm thinking that I'm really going to want a new set of sway-bars with the 710s
The rest are here http://www.klh-racing.com/street_to_strip.htm including a ZIP file that has all of the pictures and videos
I also called out the vette guys for next time

Thanks for inviding the vettes. There actually were at least 4 or 5 in the parking lot past Sunday.
and ... I guess I made my reputation as the "vette killer" now. Not at the track, but in the parking lot.

oh and before I forget.
when you take pics at the end of the quartermile again: please remember to sign an extra liability waiver and wear a warn vest, maybe you'll get a chance to run
other than that: it is a cool picture.

And how did you do that? I must have missed it.

Let's just say there's probably two guys that needed a new set of underpants last Saturday ...

yeah, I'm not going to do that again. Beyond the fact that a car is driving straight at me at 100mph, something about trusting drag racers braking ability seems like a bad idea.

hm... some drag racers still did not figure out that after the last cone/laser there is no timing any more and so they race each other into the curve...
and next time if somebody is cutting donuts at that collection area please have a pic of them it is the same thing every time: 3 people report the same one and that one says it was not him...

Did not Ole and Manni say they found a filled up set of underpants when cleaning up?

For the AutoX area the team running the AutoX is responsible.
The problem is: one is doing it, and others are following.
Just not everybody is having enough sence and may endanger other drivers or in the parking lot some kids on rollers or free running dogs.
On the other hand, the airport guys are very sensitive and if they can make up some damage in the asphalt they will hold me responsible.
... very expensive!
So whoever gets caught by me, better have a second set of panties

Well it's like what's his name with the 35th Anniv 'Maro said...it's just juvenile...but I mean I could understand if it's just the two cars down there...but after that...it's wrong. Especially since sometimes you just lose control on the Autocross. Want to do that...tell them to come see us.

Oh btw...we could rig up some Red Flags on Poles for the end of the qtr mile. It wouldn't be a big expense at hornbach.

To date, there were only two guys stupid enough not to recognize the end of the quarter mile ... racing each other in each other's car ... go figure ...

I had additional cones at the end of the quartermile last year - because there were drivers asking me several times: where is the end of it?
so I told them, after the doubled cones you may want to slow down...
The end might be more important at some drag strips: i.e. in Malmö/Sweden I told the Pro Mod driver where to release the chute (at the first 1/8 mile laser) so it was already out when hitting the breakes hard at the second 1/8 mile laser - which was also the finish line - because after that there was very little space to slow down. Several cars ended with damage in the sand bed... just a couple feet before the steel fence posts.
Tomorrow I leave with Kunos Pro Mod Team for Santa Pod FIA Main Event in England, I like their dragstrip very much:
It reminds me a lot about Bitburg. A grassy hill to the right where spectators stand, the line up coming in from the left around the corner (but the burnout is straight on the drag strip) the pits is from patches of asphalt and gras, and about the same relaxed athmosphere...
but the track is a wider, a permanent drag strip, glued, and all classes race there. The best Drag Strip I know in Europe - besides Bitburg of course...

Still searching for other airports. I think I have found the perfect place in Hanau to look at when it closes. Good strip to drag on with return lanes and a huge are to slalom on and a huge parking are close but out of the way. Several areas to park spectators at. God I love Google Earth!!
