Ok, my first post- Name is Andy I'm from Oberhausen near Dusseldorf.
I drive US cars for 10 years now- 86 TA TPI(sold), 91 GTA TPI305, 99'TA LS1(sold)- my father now drives the GTA and I buyed my dream car-

Finally I got my vert home .... the story sounds a little bit crazy....

I sold my 99'TA in Feburary and started my search for a 01-02 Black WS6 M6 vert near Chicago- thats where I wanted to go on vacation in June. So I searched and searched and then... early May I found my dream car on ebay- 2001 WS6 Convertible, M6, Triple Black, TCS, 12CD Changer, Hurst....incl. all the papers from the car and the best, only 3600 org. miles!!! I contact the seller in Ohio and asked him if I can bid on the car as a german- he answerd: As long as you can pay the car within 2 weeks- yes. So I bid on her and won :chug: - 22k and it was mine!! I booked a flight and hotel to Ohio for the next weekend, graped my cash and traveld the first time to the US. The seller picked me up at my Hotel and we made the deal perfect. I asked him if I can leave the car in his garage till June when I come for vacation- he agreed, thx again Terry!!

After 4weeks of waiting- real torture, we started our vacation in IL and visit our US friends the first time. After 4 really great days we flyed from Chicago to Ohio and graped my car- my plates already arrived a few weeks before " WS6 VERT". We drived the car from Ohio to NJ to the port and stayed then 4 days in NY until we flyed back. Then again waiting....on July 17 she arrives in Bremerhaven- no dents or scratches and everything was still on/in the car, even the tank was still full with the cheap US gas!!

I can drive 4weeks now with US plates before I must get the car to the inspection for the german registration.

But enough now- here are the pics after I zainoed her this weekend-

Welcome! Clean car. You got the Comp TA's wheels too (rare). 4 wks to drive the car before registration hu? Drive the hell out of it w/ those tags being flashed by the camera....they'll never find you and give you a ticket. :D J/K

John, you do know that occasionally the police is out there and actually stopping people after they seen them do something wrong?

Welcome and congrats on a sharp looking car! Will you be able to make it to Bitburg some time? We need a couple more F-Bodies at the races to take the Rustangs and imports ;)

Very very clean car!!! :) I guess it'd take some time to get my car as clean as yours.

Yeah, as Garry said, come to Bitburg and meet the rest of us:

a friend of mine studied in the US and brought his car from the states and kept his original US plates on it for almost two years until he sold the car. he also never insured the car.

that was at times when he also made pilots and boats license over sea
and it is NOT to recommend, because you know what that may cost...

Did you already change the headlights and disable DRL? If you need a copy of a US-spec Firebird german registration let me know ...

Thx Gary! I don't change anything till now- I will start with it next weekend. I already have the Bosch H4 Headlights with Parklight and the "Nebelschlussleuchte"- I will disable the DRL via the BCM with a cable.

I drive to an TUV a few 100km from my home- it's the only TUV I know which let me pass with the red turn signals + I get them legal in the Fahrzeugschein. Not cheap but worth the money!

Thats the things I must change-

Disable DRL / Amber parklight (I will tape one connector of the bulb  )
Change Headlights + connect the white parking light (only for inspection)
Install Nebelschlussleuchte- only for the inspection, after that I will take it off immediatley.
Knock in the VIN in passenger suspension strut

So except the disabled DRL it will stay US norm- 8)

The DRL-mod is pretty easy ... just pull the radio, unplug the small circuit and solder in a cable between two contacts ... I was thinking about putting a switch in somewhere, as I think DRL is a nice thing to have during dusk or rain ... and better than popping up the regular lights ...

The list of Mods is pretty much right - are you going to Paderborn to Apache Motors?

I wish I could look at these pics, but I'm at work and all I see are little red X's.
I just started using Zaino myself. I think it looks MUCH better than wax, but I only have 1 coat on, and they say that the more coats that you use, the better that it will look.

@Gary- you must change things with a HK- plate too? I didn't know this- I was thinking that the US forces still can leave there cars US norm.

Yes- Apache Motors, thats the man.

As I say I will enable the stock US parking light after the inspection I will use this them as DRL. It's not as bright as the DRL but I can turn it on/off.

@ShAkz05GTO- I put on Z1+Z5+Z6 and the next day washed her with Z7 and go with Z2+Z6- amazing!! I will put on another coat Z2 this weekend.

Anyone tested Z8 Grand Finale Spray already- 31€'s are a lot of money and I can't believe that it will make a big difference to Z6?
