Wanted to add one more thing...What are your guys ultimate goals with your rides? To run 7's in the quarter? To me it is just like a grey hound catching the rabbit aroud the track, once you meet your goal what else is there? At what point do you say I have spent too much damn money on this thing and for what? There is no street racing in the streets stateside anymore, you go to jail for that $hit now. So the only thing left is the drag? I went one time...
Well, it may only be my opinion, but I think your missing the point and you got out (maybe alittle late).
My take on the thing is that its what I like to do, and want to do. You also have to be into it to enjoy it. I turn wrenches on the side, and deal with people with like interests so we swap parts and hand me downs (helps with the cost). Personally I dont car if the 18 year old next door thinks its "PHAT" but is it what I like. You've heard the old saying about "...seperating the men from the boys." Well cars do the same thing. I'm not insulting you, or anyone else. You either get it or you dont, and you will end up following whatever goals work for you.
In the end (about a year) my camaro will be a trailer queen because it will not be licensed or insured (except when the class calls for it) thats my goal. On a car that a person needs for transportation then I think that after the basic bolt-ons he should back off.
In the end, to each their own. Your gonna spend money on your interests, just some people havent found what interests them yet.
